Well of course I realize this, I have done it myself. I dont think its fair that only people with trendy iPods should get to have their iTunes on mp3 players. No one in their right mind would go to iTunes looking for good trance anyway, there is some, but not very much. I have never liked iTunes, though their media player is great for sorting my music.

Well some negative responses here, Well first of all the label is not all based on the internet we do plan on having vinyl releases as well. Subtle im going to have to disagree with you. A crappie label wont work because nobody will buy there music. Even if it is not as expensive to release songs on the internet only the good ones will get bought. As for the market becoming saturated well if you ask me that isn't necessarily a bad thing as it will mean that all the djs wont be playing all the same tracks and it will become possible to find hidden gems such as it was back in the Beginning of the scene. Its true there will be crap put out by certain labels, But there's already crap being put out by many major labels.

As for the "real" talent getting to the big labels this is far from true as big labels hardly ever give a chance to new comers as they don't want to put down 200k to release a artists that they are not sure already has a fan following.

As for it ruining the industry by making it easier to rip its closer to the opposite. By giving people the option to download online and support the industry it allows people to get the music in the medium directly without having to leave their houses. You can put any type of audio onto a computer and onto a P2P so it dosnt matter if its original format is vinyl , CD or MP3 if people want to put it on the web they will.

Just to clarify we are also planing vinyl and c.d. releases down the road.

bullsjit, look to somatic sense who are signing new talent, look to bonzai who are signing new talent.

but ok, if u are also planning vinyl and stuff, good job! and i wish u guys the best of luck then . You will probably find some great talented artists here, its stuffed with it. A lot of them are already signed though to some known labels.

i think its cool starting a record label like this. however it will take time for download only sites to start getting good. i think this company sounds interesting but i would trust it a lot more if i knew some artists who were signed to them.

vinyl is still the most used format. the sound is better. the bass is fuller... FACT! proper audio cd's are good but none of this mp3 rubbish.

even a track compressed to 256kbps sounds dull compaired to cd. maybe not on an aiwa midi system but the quality difference shows when the track is played on a big system.

i look forward to when mp3 sites are the norm tho because it will be so much easier to download than transfer loads of vinyl to cd. however the tracks have to be of good quality.

maybe one day internet will be quick enough to download an uncompressed wav. file.

Not nesssessarily. Have you ever tried finding trance on p2p? You'll only find those overplayed super-famous tracks, and even then.

Nice idea indeed but I have a few questions.

The label have no name at all?

Theres no specification of the bitrate of the mp3 recordings, surely there should be a minimum bitrate? 192k? 256k? 320k?

Do the links have to be to yousendit uploads? Can we not upload tracks via our own means of webspace?

Thanks, would be grateful if you could answer those.

Hi thanks for the questions. Well the label has a name im just waiting till we have our logo made up before i start giving it out. As for the tracks you can send them in any reasonable bit-rate right now as its just for looking over the tracks for now , The ones that we sign we will be asking for in the highest possible quality. We definitely dont mind you sending them off to us via other means then yousendit we just we dont want to end up with mp3's directly in our inbox as they take up allot of space. In reference to the legitimacy of our operation im currently in talks with a couple of well known djs to join our team that should show that we are serious about this. Right now were in a very early stage thats why im not able to provide more information but by august i will be able to give you guys more information. We should have a temporary web design up for then along with e-mail address's with our labels name. Hope that helps.

New talent will get signed to big labels like somatic, asot, discover and so on....not to shady new mp3 only labels that shoot out of the ground like toads.

And i fully agree with subtle that the marked will overflow with a sjitload of tunes that nobody cares about to buy. And at the other hand, while saying this, why should i even bother as the big labels will keep pressing vinyl and quality tunes anyway and come up with records from REAL new talents.

Agreed.

I recently took a search on the net and I was AMAZED at the plethora of trance record labels and artists that already exists. I was even more amazed to see that the majority of them have VERY average tracks and remixes.

According to me, the market is already overflown and it's killing the scene I'm afraid... What is regarded as "new talent" nowadays could almost never have gotten released, say, 5 years ago.

Will you not be doing a proper end-mastering before giving them out to the public? Releasing unmastered mp3's that come straight from the program export hardly will sound like quality all the time... The buyers might also feel a bit set back if the record they bought is riddled with distortion and clipping.

Shouldn't you at least use an ftp server where signed artists should upload their master wavs from the render / export?

Cheers,
Wim
