So are there plans for a 32bit version? I know I've heard the plans are there, but nothing from Microsoft.

i believed there was only going to be a 64-bit version, fading away the 32-bit systems run today. I think Longhorne is much like the leap from 3.1 to 95.
also i think i remember hearing the recomended memory requirement was 1 gig.
Also Windows Explorer using a 3D file management system

Dresden used a knife. When that knife turned out to be too blunt, Dresden used a sharper knife to slice the penis off. Gabriel apparently tried to eat his share of his own penis..but could not because it was too..."chewy". Dresden then sautéed the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, and garlic.

Doubt it. Microsoft is phasing this in with chip engineering from hardware makers who have retooled a year or two ago. No loss in functionality from existing computers using XP, but new operating software will determine compatibility of hardware with new software requirements and probably not allow you to install it if you don't have the power (good deal for the normal idiot with an old computer). Windows 95 let you install despite decrepit power on old computers and all you got was a slower than hell system, and I mean realllly slow... Hope they learned their lessons as a result.

I dont know if upgrading to longhorn would be a good idea, I read something about Longhorn, That it would require you to have a monitor with the built in DRM, Meaning, If you have older more resent monitors, When playing an HD video on it, Longhorn will downgrade the video to a lower quality cause you dont have a monitor with the built in DRM, I read about it here.

Besides, DRM requires a HDCM (i think thats what its called) connection, and well if you have an older monitor you dont have that anyways.

No, What I meant is, If you have your regular monitor, Be it a CRT or LCD that doesnt have the DRM built in, High quality video will downgrade to a lower quality cause Longhorn will detect that you a non DRM monitor.

Seriously dude, don't worry about it. All DRM does is cause inconvenience for the average user. As long as you have some knowledge, you'll be able to get around any type of DRM that will ever be implemented. These stupid companies just don't get it--their DRM WILL BE CRACKED, and it's just hurting sales for them because normal users can't figure the shit out.

So yeah. Don't worry about it.

I'll stick with XP for a long time, I dont think my systen could handle Longhorn since that OS will be built around the 64bit CPUs.

As I reported on the Toronto forums...

Apparently vista in Latvian means chicken.

And the the source code was leaked..

code:
int main( int argc, char * argv[] ) { float value; // splashscreen("Windows 3.1"); // splashscreen("Windows 95"); // splashscreen("Windows Me"); // splashscreen("Windows 2000"); // splashscreen("Windows XP"); splashscreen("Windows Vista"); grindHarddrive(); showDestop(DISABLE_CURSOR); wait(20000); showDesktop(ENABLE_CURSOR); while( rand() > 0.9 ) { doWork(); } bluescreen(geterror(rand()); return 0; }

nice code

it seems that MS intentionally puts errors in their OS so they can claim "our NEW OS doesn't have these problems anymore" and repeat the process every 5 years

Best part is the commented splash screens...

I'm sure if you wrote to Bill Gates and asked nicely, he might come out with windows - CLaW edition, one so simplistic that even your great self could work it

run dos run

why wouldn't there be a 32-bit version, Intel hasn't really come close to making a marketable 64-bit processor (and we all know MS and Intel are butt buddies). I'm almost certain the next version of windows will be fully 32-bit compatable and probably wont utilize 64-bit to it's fullest.
