if the music is made in digital in the first place why wouldn't it be better than vinyl... some vinyl pressings are crap IMO

anyways go digital, every store sends you receipts and some like beatport have a record of your previous purchases in their database so I guess you could print that out every time you buy

It's also much cheaper than buying hundresd of vinyl from which you only want a certain track

I do most my shopping on Tidy Digital (im a hard dance fan now) and they give proof of purchace. IMO, its only a matter of time unrill everyoen goes digital, you may love the warmth or vinyl, but u will die at the clarity of digital. Digital downloads sound amazing and you ca nEASILY hear the difference between digital downloads, and illegal mp3's...

Just get something like Serato Scratch then, you can stay with the feel and control of vinyl but will get to use all your digital files, I still plan to buy vinyl, but its just too difficult and expensive to get all the tracks I want to play.

Vinyl here costs about 17 bux a track, if it was around 10 bux a track I'd stick with buying all vinyl, but thats not going to happen.

Exactly what i'm doing!

Actually it comes down to analogue versus digital wave forms. Agreed it's electronic (not necessarily digital) to start with but you will get a high quality wave form from instruments much of which is lost in the MP3 process.

Sound quality is lost with vinyl too but just not as much as MP3. It just comes down to finding a level that is not so bad that it's offensive.
Sure, vinyl degrades but if you back it up on CD you actually get a better quality CD than if it's from an MP3 (depending on your equipment).

I do download MP3s but only if I really have to.

Cheers
Nem

and this is why they should offer wav downloads, because wav/cd > vinyl!

that's why we should do pressure on beatport and other digital download sites to offer uncompressed music for downloads at reasonable prices (i don't wanna spend 3$ instead of 1,5$ to get a flac file from edmdigital)

i recently bought a cdj200 and i'm currently ripping all my vinyl to wav (i use a ortofon nightclub e, a m-audio 2496 and wavelab. quality is allright!

Your hard drive never crashes, is the Operating System that does.

If you have an external Hard Drive, it won't be affected by the OS Crash.
There you go.

and vinyls can get stolen....

with digital files they could be backed up in a couple of different places... one set gets lost or stolen... no big deal

if your vinyls are stolen... THEY ARE GONE!
