i started by mixing cosmic gate's different concept part 1 and 2 vinyls. the basslines are nice and hard. i'd start with a track on part 1, mix it into one track on part 2, then mix that into the flip of part 1, and finally mix that into the flip of part 2. and then start over. i just kept going until i started getting it right.

Mavi - Fallen
Fortunato & Montresor - Imagine (Chris Fortier Dub)
BT - Somnambulist (Burufunk Mix)

first two are excellent tracks for learning to mix. simple, solid, and are great tracks to begin with. the third is an excellent breaks track, and easy to learn with. those 3 records were my basics of mixing crashcourse.

I learned with techno, it was easy. Picked up beatmatching by the second day.

get a hold of some breaks and DNB if you're outgoing enough for diff flavors of EDM...

i find my mixing has improved overall ever since i started spinning DnB, breaks, and techno rather than just trance

listen to diff mixed sets from various genres also... with trance and techno i lerned how to hold a match for long periods of time and after listening to DnB mixes and trying some of my own i became quicker and tighter in my transitions...
