Sure, thus spoilers follow.
The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge has been replaced, and the new minister and Fudge warn England's Prime Minister that things are falling apart. Snape starts off making an unbreakable vow with Draco's mom, promising that he will protect Draco in a task the Dark Lord has set him to. Dumbledore whisks Harry away from the Dursley's 14 days into his vacation; Dumbledore uses Harry to convince an old professor to return to Hogwart's for a teaching vacancy. Dumbledore also informs Harry that he will be teaching him personally in year six. Harry is deposited at the Weasleys where among everything else, Bill is marrying Fleur Delcaour (the Beauxbottoms [French] champion from 4-The Goblet of Fire). Ginny is revealed to be dating Dean Thomas, the twins are making sacks of money, and Arthur has been promoted. They go to Diagon Alley to buy their books, flanked by Ministry guards. As they're buying new robes, they happen across Draco Malfoy and his mother (whom Snape vowed with). Draco, after revealing his embarassment at the presence of his mother, storms from the store, and as Harry and his friends leave, they see Draco escaping his mother and running down Diagon Alley. Dumbledore has instructed Harry to have his invisibiity cloak at all times, so the trio don it and follow Malfoy to Borgin & Burkes, the Dark Magic store Harry mistakenly Floo to in 1-The Sorcerer's Stone. Using Extendable Ears, they hear Darco threatening the shop keeper to tell him how to fix an item and to hold another for him. He storms from the store. The trio wonder what Malfoy could be up to at their time back in the Burrow: Malfoy showed the shopkeepr the spot on his arm where the Dark Mark was burnt on other death Eaters to threaten him. Tonks' is revealed to be depressed, seemingly about the death of Sirius, and Ginny, Mrs Weasley and Hermione all display displeasure at Bill choosing Fluer over Tonks. Everyone prepares to go to school, flanked by ministry guards. Harry tells Mr. Weasley about Draco's time in B&B's and Mr Weasley promises to search the Malfoy house (Lucius has been jailed for his role in the ministry at the end of 5-The Order of the Phoenix.
On the train ride to school, Harry is the subject of much attention. The Daily Prophet has gotten wind of the prophecy heard at the end of book 5 and has dubbed Harry, "The Chosen One". He is invited to lunch in the new teacher's car. It turns out the new teacher is somewhat of a politician, choosing the best and brightest students, pushing them into places of power using his political influence so that he might be "thanked" later. In the lunch with him is a Slytherin whom Harry tails back to the car with Draco Malfoy. He listens to Malofy talk about serving someone and preforming a task. The train arrives but Malfoy has discovered Harry, jinxes him and breaks his nose. The train leaves to return to London, but is stopped; Harry's body guard (Aurors) notice he is missing. He returns to the castle, met by Snape who deducts points and sends him to the Great Hall. Dumbledore introduces the new teacher as the new potions master. More suprise awaits when Dumbledore reveals that Snape has finally been giving his coveted Defense against the Dark Arts job. Meanwhile. Harry has done well enough on his OWLs to continue his hope of being an Auror, as have Ron and Hermione. Harry, only scraping an E in potions did not expect to be in NEWT level potions and thus is required to borrow a book from the new teacher. The book he borrows is covered in small notes in the margains and is marked the property of the Half-Blood prince. The new potions master offers a small potion of luck (a 24 hour dose of a potion that will make you extremely lucky) to the person who can mix the best potion and Harry does so following the alternative instructions provided by the Half-Blood Prince(HBP). Hermione, not used to being beat at potions, is a bit miffed and tells Harry he should not use the book (reminding him of Ginny's experience in 2-The Chamber of Secrets). The time eventually comes for Harry, who has been named captain of the Gryffindor quiditch team, to choose his teammates. A large tryout ensues and places are awarded to Katie Bell, Ginny and Ron Weasley, and some other newcomers.
Ill continue this summary later.
