I'd spend the $900 on a synth and deal with my regular monitors.

I would only buy them if the generated the same amount of money back at you. The problem with these earplugs vs studio monitors is that you can't see the woofer warping if your bass levels are too high. Plus I think to monitor a sound propperly you need to create an environement for your music that is similar to the environement that it would be listened to by 'fans'.

To monitor your music you need to listen to it first of all on good monitor speakers(which are usualy more expecive than 900 USD). Secondly on a car radio which give you an idea of how it sounds in a club. And my absolute last priority would be silly little earplugs that will probably give a lot of detail but lack the feel of volume and the whole belly wobbling thing.

I would get good monitor speakers if i where you KRK is the absolute top-notch to go with for home-studio's.

kind regards,

Nick

Music is as universal to people as breathing. We've probably been at it since before we even started talking. Immaging two cavemen smashing away at a peace of flint to make a spearhead. It wouldn't take long for them to learn te synchronise the sound. And there you have it, the words first percussive band.

Music has survived wars, famines, the plague and many other things and has evolved with man across many cultures. Dance music is just the next step in the evolutionary chain. My guess is that it will probably be with us untill we are extinced.

Earbuds are really for live performance, in a situation where the stage volume is excessive, performers like the high volume without feedback risk. Although the sucky thing is that you can't hear all the applause and crowd noise (the real reason we all get into this )

Cheers for picking some up, they do sound incredible and they don't mess up your hair like big cans do.

...and no, real live engineers don't wear earbuds, you would be yankin' em out every 2 min and they don't hang right on the mixing console

Just stick the word "Pro Audio" on anything, and the price triples.

Wouldn't agree with this 100%...After all you can pick up a pair of "pro" maudio monitors for less than half of 900 bucks...

But for the real studio monitors that are embedded in actual recording studios...yeah those will make a nice hole in your wallet

Some excellent points above... though, I'm not using them for professional use ATM. I have a set of Seinheisers and Mackie HR824's. Most recently got rid of my Genelec 1038A's... Now, this is serious sound:

I myself would NEVER spend something as $900 on earphones or headphones. Seems just a little bit too silly. You can even get a decent second hand car for that amount of money heh.

Yeah, probably a second hand car with a decent sterio too
