Yeah, you know that Intel Pentium M chip they put in all their mobile laptops? They're not as powerful in MHz but the real technology is the size and power consumption of the chip. As far as I know, (huge apple hobbiest) from what I've read on all the developer forums, and such, the intel technology does wonders for power consumption it uses up less.
Ahh, the "M" processor. eMasaculated to reduce heat and power consumption... Cool, I guess
Haven't really been following this lately. I used to be an APP but have moved on to other things
Hope this works out, anything to bring the cost down while maintaining user loyalty and user experience is good in my 'books.

heres a solution...
move to europe
more gigs (less hip hop)--no worries about transport (u cant take the bus, train or subway)-- and you still get that laptop and the job (since u can do it over the net)
screw the car dictatorship that we live in.... i want to sell mine since its more of a pain in the ass. Sadly while im here i need it and have no choice.

Re: can't decide... car, or powerbook... helpme plz
unless u already have some money saved up, it'll take u 2.5 years to save $6000 for a car(assuming that u put away $200 a month).
r u sure u want to wait that long??
oh, and remember this $6000 excludes the 15% tax ($900) + miscellaneous fees (transfer of ownership, etc) which u also have to pay upfront. AND, all of this is under the assumption that u can afford to pay for insurance+gas+maintenance+(parking/speeding tickets ) every month.
so forget the car and unless u feel that the apple computer is an absolute necessity right now, take the extra $$ and make a weekend trip to Ibiza or something before the summer is over!!

There's no doubt about it, a car is a financial black hole. You will piss away more than you ever thought possible on it.
Nevertheless, the G4 will be obsolete in 2 years. The car will not.
I put a lot of myself into production as well, but I could live (comfortably) without producing - I could not live without my car. And in addition to that, I think it would take a long time to actually start making decent money from production/audio/etc., whereas a car instantly opens up hundreds of opportunities you didn't have originally.
Oh, and I can understand if you don't really want to get a shitbox, but you *can* get a used car for much less than $6000.

Come on..not quite 2 but not quite 7 either. The ppc chips in apple's now will still be supported well into the future, just better off waiting for the intelmac though, just to be safe.

Adopting first gen technology is never a good idea.

The G5 iMac had less factory problems the first time around then the second. And the G5 power macs were just as shady as the 3 round of them.
I don't believe in the first gen rule thing anymore, because it either puts you behind the game when the next gen comes out, or you never stop waiting. The thing to know at this point in the game, it all comes down to software. It's all on the type of person you are really, so either way always works for me.
But in the case of changing platform, that's when I say, fuck that, I'm waiting. IF that's what they want to use for the next 10-15 years, I'm better off waiting for that until then.

I never said it wouldn't be supported in 2 years, but it will be obsolete. That *is* the established obsolescence rate in the IT world today.
