i know its nation, but for whatever reason, i say nations. a sub-consious thing.

@TranceVanDyk you better be careful because there's more cops here than in all your Florida PD combined. Hell, they're all like irate dogs here. Always ready to be pull somebody over or arrest you. They're crazy here.

i tend to hang around the springfield/fairfax area, not so much to worry about as DC. but this is the first time my hookup actually has called me to ask if i need anything instead of me having to do the calling. but tampa PD is pretty ubiquitous, so i dont fuck around DUI or anything.

Quit giving a fuck on what places are called you'd argue this too much and its never going to change.

Also D.C. being the Capital it has one of the worst crime rates in America and many places look like wasteland

disagree

The DC metro area is nice compared to many other places (cities) in the US. Maybe its not top 5, but top 10 for sure. There are good looking people, yummy food, bars, clubs, shopping malls, parks, nice cars...and these things are at a higher number and quality then many other cities. If you know what you want, DC has probably got it. You just gotta go out and get it.

agree

As far as meeting new people, of course tt is not as people friendly as Canada, but what is? It is like any other US urban city where people are hard asses and don't really seem like they need new friends. Sad.

hey bro, let me tell you this. I use to live in Bethesda. 4804 Wellington Drive to be exact. The vibe from 1992 to 96 was pretty friendly. Then, I moved to Baltimore County which totally sucked balls.

Yes agree with you, on the social issue there around the DC area, because people are too much into themselves. However they are nice people out there. I met Dwayne in late 2001, and he was very friendly, not because he was working @ Tower Records in Rockville. Because, he was a good person period.

Ive always thought the people in DC were rather friendly. There isn't too many people in DC that are from that area. People there are from all over the place. Maybe you are hanging out in the wrong places??? It's all what you make of it my friend. I was shacked up in the middle east for three months a few summers ago and I made the best of it and actually had a pretty decent time. You said people there do not smile....well did you ever try smiling at them? If somebody is acting snobby or stuck up....try smiling at them and approaching them from that angle....alot of the time it will put their snobby-ness attitude problems in check.

thats true, unless you live in NYC or southern Cali, ppl will always complain that there's nothing to do etc. . .

My suggestion is to go out try different things. There's lots to do in DC if your're willing to explore. If youre under 18, then yea, I would agree that it would be harder for u to get out.

Actually, I met you AFTER I moved to Canada, at Glow, and only because we had TA in common. TA is the reason I made any new acquaintences/ friends in DC when I visited. (You really are my favorite DC TA tho ).

+1 about that- better restaurants and sales at stores compared to here in Canada, tho we do have cooler clothing here- many of the 'rave clothing lines' originate from Canada (not like I fit into any of it ). I do miss those restaurants, and the bars that actually pour you a real drink, and not some measured 1.5 oz liquor shot. Our clubs and lineups here kick DC's ass, tho. < Between that & the friendly people, its the reason why I havent moved back. I've put up with higher gas prices, illogical bank rules, shitty postal system, and 15% taxes just for that.

I'm not complaining there's nothing to do. I agree DC has lots of activities. The problem is the people, and the vibe.

I hate it when I'm in the middle of a conversation with someone (I'm in my late twenties), then when we order a drink in a restaurant, we have to show our IDs. How silly and childish is that (rarely, if ever, happened in NYC or LA to me). People here are sooo scared of alcohol.

Cops being too aggressive is an understatement. I've been pulled over for some silly shit so many times, and when they pull me over, there's like 3-4 police cars that "box me in" and shit like I'm the worst criminal or terrorist.

The people have a big DO NOT APPROACH ME sign on the streets and on the metro.

I lived in DC for a long time before moving to NYC. I've never regretted this decision. I never enjoyed DC either. Very cliquey and people are fake. They want to know you if you can help them with their careers was my feeling.
