Interesting stuff here. It seems everyone is brainwashed! The stanton st-150 deck is technically superior to Technics in every department, just check out the spec!
The reason Technics are in most clubs (not all, Ministry has Vestax for example), is because they were installed when Technics had no compeitiors 20 years ago, and because they are so reliable and robust then there is no need to replace them. The people who decide to replace them if needed are not DJs, therefore they just get more of the same as they don't know any better.
Having said all that, Technics decks are of course superb, but all the top end decks are similar, hard to choose between them, its just that everyone is told that Technics are the best and they believe it! Its hard to break habits! Its almost fashionable to say you have technics. Yeah. I'm cool coz I have technics! Try the other decks. Obviously those who are slagging stanton have not even used them!
For those idiots who said that stanton are crap, well they know nothing as I said above the ST-150 deck is superb, as are top end Vestax and Numark.
For those who say that the Mk3 or 5 is better than the mark 2are even worse! All they have done is take out the little ball bearing on the pitch control so it doesn't click! Its the same deck as the mark 2!! Technics don't actually care about their decks, they make there money elsewhere, so have got complacent and put NO research into the deck over the last 20 years! They got lucky in the first place coz the pitch control was not meant for DJ use initially, but for Hi-Fi people to stop voltage fluctuation affecting their music!
But they charge more for mark3 or 5 coz it has nice blue lights and no click! You're being ripped off!
It is the same with Pioneer CDJs, but, they are the best at the moment no question. The jog wheel and features are superb. I've used numark and vestax and the flimsy plastic jog wheels are irritating. I've not use the Denon tho, but they are meant to be wicked too.
