the good thing about A-League is that no team has a strong ethical backing (like the NSL).

hopefully it will all go well, its got fairly cheap ticket prices so should get some crowds. but i dont know if it will last more than a couple of seasons *fingers crossed*

its hard for soccer to be successful in a country that already has strong support for so many sports (AFL, Rugby, League, Cricket)

Soccer never was and never will be 'big' here. Which sucks, but I prefer the European leauges anyway.

Good luck to the new leauge anyway. Got to give them credit for 'trying'.

The good 'ol NSL days may be long gone.......but those were the glory days....aaaaa the memories LOL Nothin' like a bit of rivalry and hooliganism

As a former player in the NSL in the early nineties with West Adelaide Sharks, i really do hope the league succeeds. They are certainly giving themselves a fair shot at it. So if this doesnt take off after a couple of seasons, im afraid it never will. So get out there and support if you are at all into the beautiful game.

I'll be waiting for the first riot to occur, it'll happen eventually, it always does.
That said, security is intense at Olympic Park.

perhaps, i dont think it will happen though. lets not shit ourselves most of the rioting in football in australia is from ethnic communities and i dont particularly see them going to see a sydney fc game, their probably all still whining about there local teams being taken out of the comp so there making a stand and not going haha, similar to a swans game

not much hype out there at all, and with such a long lead in time, i've lost interest long before the league even starts. Even the strips look very bland. Hopefully I'll be able to drag some friends along to a couple of games but I don't hold much hope for the league lasting.
