I hope this goes well, would be good if the party made a good impression for trance music in France. The lack of it has always made me curious why, even though I am very far away.
So any guesses as to why trance is so lacking in France?
(specifically trance in France I wouldn't want to tangent this thread into another flaming heap of "why don't you like trance' drama) |
We have a quite developed electronic music scene, but that is a lot more underground than in the rest of Europe... free parties, or djs such as laurent garnier, miss kittin'.
Trance is quite unknown here, and should be played in clubs. But the clubbing scene here is very poor, most people don't goto clubs for the music, but just to meet some chicks and have a drink... most of them don't care about the music. Clubs are flooded with R&B, hip-hop or some old pop. And in our "electronic music scene" i already talked about, trance (when people know what is hidden behind) is seen as a very commercial genre.
And yeah: radios, medias totally ignore this genre. We don't have big events to promote this type of music. If you like electronic music, it's for the drugs. This is not only in France naturally, but maybe it's even worse here ? since our scene is more "underground".
Tomorrow's event is a bliss, that's mostly thanks to a few persons (like Dj Dany) who take really big risks...
