I was aware i might get a negative reaction. I know i am not ready for a club as a normal DJ, but i would be ready if i were to play my own work out live on synths. I am by far more a technical producer than anything else.

With that said, it might be a good chance for me, but i'm seriously considering giving it a miss. I'm feel like i'm not confident enough todo this kind of thing.

Having done my own remixes and even some dubs recently, while i would only be "selecting tracks" they would be tracks i've spent a great deal of time producing or remixing (sequencing/dubbing).

So while i am in essence a music selector, picking good tracks is still difficult.

Any advice is good advice

if thats what is normally played there on that night, throwing on pre-mixed epic trance may not go over well.

It sounds like you bit off more than you can chew at this point. Personally, I would pass on the night and have a go at it when you actually know how to dj and are comfortable with it. Pretending to mix while a pre recorded mix plays out iskind of offensive to the rest of the djs playing the night, the guy who booked you and the people who show up. You actually sound like your head is in the right place....you don't sound like some douche and you recognize your predicament which is good. I think you just bit off a little more than you can chew. Good luck though, however you decide to go about it.

Sure, haven't mixed these tracks together to see how it goes, dunno if all of these tracks can be played in a 30 minute time frame but here's a shot at it.

1. Madonna - What It Feels Like For A Girl (Above & Beyond Edit)
2. Oceanlab - Satellite (Original Above & Beyond Mix)
3. Paul van Dyk - Another Way (Original Club Mix)
4. Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia (Paul van Dyk Remix)
5. Armin Van Buuren - Blue Fear 2003 (Original Mix)
6. Three Drives On A Vinyl - Greece 2000 (Original Mix)
7. Solar Stone - Seven Cities (Atlantis Mix)

honestly, and i do not mean to sound harsh, but it seems like maybe you should look at the tracks more before you play out.
TA is a great place for techical advice (mixing, gear etc) but when it comes to how you spin, that is something you need to decide. otherwise you arent really you for that time. by taking track suggestions from others you are spinning what others want you to. that isnt your job as the DJ. you arent you. feel free to ask about general styles that would work. but ultimatly you should really examine your tracks and determine what is the best course of tracks to follow.
hope the mix goes well and if it is recorder, post it up here if you can.

Let's try these:

vocals:
Tiesto feat. Kirsty Hawkshaw-- Just be (antilla mix)
PvD-- the other side
Filo & Peri-- Closer now (whiteroom remix)
Delirium-- silence (Above and Beyond remix, filterheadz remix)
Iio-- rapture (AvB mix is good, riva mix is also good)
Tiesto feat. BT-- Love comes again (Mark Norman remix)

some non-vocal tracks in between:
Oliver Prime-- Mind games
Randy Katanas-- In silence (trixarro remix)
SnB-- absolute red
AvB-- blue fear
Stardust-- Taurus

These should not be bad choices. As much as some of these tracks are overplayed (Silence for example), they work. 30 min is not much time, so try not to change the mood too much.

Any mainstream-sounding track wih lotsa vocals will do.

I can't emphasize enough on vocals. And I mean lots of vocals, people love them. Also, please stay away from any deep type of prog. Unless you want them to fall asleep.
