the review would most likely state some kind of preference anyway.. it's only putting that in shorthand

and in a 0-5 system i'd only end up using halfs.. so would go for 10 just for simplicity myself

No. A rating system based on numbers is entirely subjective, and does nothing to distinguish good artists from bad artists. For example, people who (somehow) enjoy music by Armin van Buuren would give him high marks, yet wouldn't rate many more credible productions very highly. Furthermore, I'd rate Armin van Buuren productions 1/10 because I find them shit.

I agree with your marks. A writer would tend to be biased towards an artists they liked. But I can honestly say that for the most part, we are un-biased for the most part.

We have discussed a 1-10 system. Possibly by having 5 being average which would give us more freedom on rating. Also debated a 1-10 + .5

Its a topic that needs to be covered now before the site grows and it is harder to change what is already implemented.

Another thing that I mentioned was that I'd like double reviews from more then one writer, giving the reader a better look at the track.

Another thing would be to have sound clips which is a most deffinite.

this is why reviews normally get divided into genres, and have fans of the respective genre in charge of each one. since you aren't a fan of modern trance then your opinion wouldn't mean much to people reading the trance review pages, whereas the opinions of someone more into the music may be more likely to represent the common views of people reading that section

I think this should be made a bit more specific.

Our current system is 1/10. This appears as five stars, but you can have 2.5 stars (5/10)

What DreamTitan is suggesting is using a 1-100 system, where 0-10 also includes decimals (9.2 is 92 etc.)

I'll keep my personal opinion out of this thread, but I think that needed clarifying.

I'm also thinking about possibly trying a 1-10 system with halfs. So a 8.5 is an option. However an 8.6 is not.

From this survey, the numbers don't like. While its only 40 or so votes it is still a large enough sample to begin to get an idea.
