It doesnt sound bad, but the melody becomes repetative. As far as outdated, I believe he meant that by using the typical off beat bassline and arps = typical 99-01 trance formula. This songs style reminds me along the lines of Cosmicman (aka Matti Laamanen & Sundawner)- kinda of generic, catchy, summer feely. Yeah, so about the using that old formula.... nothing really wrong with it IMO. I personally have been enjoying some old classic compilations lately and noticed that the overall quality was just better back then. The sound used to be 'cleaner', melodies were simpler, but some of the melodies were nothing less then amazing and left the listener with their hair raised on the back of their neck . Nowadays, I believe you can still make it work with the simple melody and sound, though it needs to be very very good (in order for it to stick out and people not to just skip over the track)- again it has to be something that just when the person listens to it, it gives them that wow factor and leaves them with one eye crossed and their jaw open. There are some producers nowadays who still stick to the older formula, though they get around from sounding completely old school by using some newer sounds and/or samples. Processing a drums differently, layering multi patches to one lead, using different type of sweep FX (other than open/close or reverse cymbal), using different FXs etc.

Until know is a usual trance track thought m8.
For mastering:Try to give some low khz at your kick maybe. All the others instruments sounds very good.
For the track itself:It's not my cup of tea,I like darker projects but the sure is that your main melodie give's the idea that you already listen somewhere this track means that sometimes this is good and sometimes not.
Good luck

Wow, thanks for those pointers, guys...that really really helps out A LOT. I don't listen to a lot of trance because I don't want to get influcenced by it. Anyway, since I use Behringer Truths, I was afraid that I was going to get low rumble and that is why I EQ'd low bass, hehe, I cannot hear it using the MDR-7506 headphones. I am going to try to process the drums and use different sounds to see how it sounds.

I got a slower idea here...repetitive with the same percs as the last one but you get the idea...and I programmed the patches myself so it would sound unique, hehe. Hopefully it does not sound outdated, hehehe. :crossesfingers:
