Really hard to say but probably:

1. Switch to Reason instead of a hardware sequencer for drums

2. Getting monitors and having them hooked up right so I could adjust all my levels and fine tune everything.

3. Listening very closely to songs that I like to see how it is arranged.

4. Tips and advice from websites such as this.

5. Working on a few different songs from different genres so if I get tired of the one I am working on, I can switch to something else (new ideas).

helps:

1.books
2.internet stuff
3.great tracks that are unique. WOW. I mean if unique stuff like NOTHING 's 99 remix doesn't inspire you.....you're crazy.
4.bad tracks....I can do better!
5.experimentation

hinderance:

1.Hardware limitations, I have 512mb ram and that's not enough!
2.Money
3.School
4.Life

I really hate #2,#3 and the negative parts of #4.

The are the following factors that assisted me thus far and still is :

1) Knowing a site like trance addict exsits with help all over the place.
2) Being able to use absolutely amazing software like Reason 3.3 and Cubase Sx and not to mention FL Studio.
3) Having 2 17 inch monitors on my desk “ROCKS BABY” Cubase sx the one Reason on the other that really helps.
4) Reading lots and lots of audio material like common How to: EQ, Compress, Master, ECT….
5) Listen to my friends say “WOW” u could not have done using a PC only ????????,That gets me going

Traps:

1) Still unable to find the correct way to optimize the amount of plug-in I use to save valuable CPU clock cycles.
2) Lack of good samples I still create my own stuff from scratch which is very time consuming.Im almost out the of newbie stage!
3) No Studio Speaker Only a DIY 10 inch Subwoofer
4) When the track is 80 % complete CPU usage is always showing 90% usage.
5) Always blaming that dam FL Studio for “robbing me” from my CPU usage

Yep,

Yep,

cubase sx2 with one instance of the legacy Cell from the Legacy colection :
Cpu 37-45% , temp 65 (it was a hot summer ).

Fl studio 5 with one instance of the legacy Cell :
Cpu 27-36% , temp 63.

i used the same drivers with the same latency in both. also cubase needed a bit more ram but thats ok.
