I take your Enzo and raise you a :

quote:
Ferrari has launched a new supercar, along with a novel driving program.

The new FXX is a highly-modified Enzo, one featuring an 800-bhp 6.3-liter V-12, larger composite ceramic disc brakes with specially-designed Brembo pads and brake cooling system, and a reworked gearbox that shifts at nearly Formula 1 car-like speed. Reconfigured bodywork produces 40 percent greater downforce. But what really separates the FXX from other exotic machines is its advanced telemetry system that measures 39 different vehicle parameters, with the data reviewed by Ferrari test drivers, Rubens Barrichello and Michael Schumacher, thus offering the FXX’s new owner some sage driving advice (to say the least).

With the FXX being a purely competition car (not street legal), Ferrari will make occasional track day arrangements at various international circuits for the first two years. Delivery of the car will take place at the Italian legend’s famed test track, Fiorano, where the new owner will perform the initial shakedown.

Better hurry and place your order: Ferrari will only build “20 or so” FXX cars in total. The price for “Client Test Driver” status? A cool 1.5 million Euros.

People always say things like that, but you're never aware of how fast you can accelerate and go, even in traffic, until you own something with blistering acceleration. When you have a car that quick, it's not a matter of where you want to drive that fast, it's only a question of when.

I've done over 240km's an hour on the 401 in the middle of the night (around 9pm) with my ex on the back. It has a quarter mile time of around 10.9 seconds so I'm assuming it's slightly faster than the Enzo....But when you're riding on the highway at around 120, and you do a roll-on (which is the equivelant of pushing the pedal to the floor when you're in top gear), you're going from 120 to 200 in a matter of seconds. If you downshift 2 or 3 gears, it's only a matter of milliseconds before you get up to 240.

For the thrills!

Some people are really into speed and acceleration, and other's aren't.

I try to be careful as much as I can, but with any physical activity, even sports, there's always some element of danger....And I think that's what makes it exciting. Good lookin' out.

now that is a track car.

I see your FXX and raise you a:

Ariel Atom 245.

Layout: Rear-engined, rear-wheel-drive
Engine: Honda K20C I4, 1998cc
Max power: 245bhp @ 8200rpm
Maax torque: 151lb-ft @ 6100rpm
Weight: 505kg
Power/weight: 490bhp per tonne
0-60mph: 3.4 sec
Max speed: 143mph

Oh yeah, Ariel offers a supercharger setup for that too - the Atom 320. 320bhp out of a 2.0L Honda engine right behind your head. This version will do a 0-60mph sprint in a claimed 2.8 seconds.

From the July EVO Magazine: "The Ariel Atom feels like a ball of pent-up manic energy."

Now that's a track car.
