Rush as much as possible - free beer. Frats always have open parties as well. Pay cover charge and they stamp your hand. Find out what the stamps are under a blacklight, and you can replicate them very easily with Tide and water mix applied with a toothpick under a black light. In essence, after you learn the hand stamp symbols the frats use, you can go to any fraternity party and drink for free, they never change the stamps. Going to rushes is a good deal as well, since you meet people which invite you back all the time whether you're a member or not (you being a cool dude). I always told the frat brothers that the hazing part was no big deal to me, it was just the fact that I didn't want to get tied down with one party group. Worked out for the best anyhow, since I went to all the best parties about nonstop throughout college.
