Yup - people who have had the occipital lobe removed/damaged still respond subconciously to visual stimuli. They have no awareness of what they've seen, but visual phenomena (such as fear conditioning) still occur. Scans show that subcortical areas are acivated. This means that there are visual pathways buried deep in the brain (much deeper than the relatively recently evolved occipital lobe) that bypass the occipital lobe and communicate with other brain areas, despite no concious knowledge of the percepts. Everyone, including seemingly blind people do this. It's called blindsight and admittedly has nothing to do with dreams but I just think its pretty cool.

thats just my guess :P

reminds me of this show where they took a girl, blindfolded here so it was completely dark and taught her brail. They took brain images along the way and after a week er so, I forget the period of time actually, but the result was that her occipital lobe (responsible for visual processing) was going crazy with activity when she was reading brale. so she was like visualizing the brale.

crazy shit goes on in da brain.

Not really, I know designers can even choose how (and what) computer voices will read the content.

Haven't tried it yet though.

I think the way the forums are designed (with its extensive use of tables) would make it extremely annoying for a blind person to browse.

there was a blind TA, i had a discussion with him/her and i was asking about how they were able to post and read other posts.

for all i know i couldve been taken for a piss, but it seemed genuine enough for me

And yes blind people can dream... but only in black & white.
