Yes, the AN200 is very similar to the AN1x engine and can use the same sounds. It also includes a 16 step sequencer, a 32 voice AWM drum and bass subsynth too and is very small and knobby. It's only 5 voice poly though and not multitimbral. Definitely worth its price, $150USD on ebay!

You won't go wrong with the A station, imo sounds better than the AN200 and SH32, but the monotimbral and no drums could be limiting in the future if this will be your only hardware synth. The SH32 is also a rompler with some extra features like PWM and Sync. The nice thing is it is 4 part multi, has decent drums, sliders galore, easy programming and a programmable arpeggiator which can control notes or filter. Downside is the cutoff steps if tweaked with the knob. However, use the LFOs or filter envelope and no stepping. Does anyone sweep the filter manually anymore?

Send me a sample sound and a midi file and I'll try to recreate it on the SH32 for you.

In fact An200 seems to be a (only) 16 steps groovebox...
I've read the sounds are good, but I think I will not like this groovebox aspect..

You can always pull the PLG150AN card out and put it in a Yamaha CS6r rack.. Vengeance has an awesome soundset for that card/rack combo.. but then again.. now we are talking nord/virus/JP prices once more.

oh you will do this ? thanks a lot!
Here are two mp3 where you can see the kind of sounds I expect :

First one with basses samples, pitch shifting effects, some basic trance sounds too, then some nasty FXs.

Some leads :

I only have a midi :
http://midi.johnsteenbergen.com/download.php?id=545

but don't mess with melodies just show me some patch you want to (quickly) recreate and play some notes..
Let me hear that filter ! and the reso..
I would like some pads if you can too.
I've heard the SH-32 has supersaw sample integred ?? can i hear some ?

Don't recreate all the stuff i gave you just some basic and all you think I must hear!

Well do you have an mp3 of that midi played with some of the expected sounds on either software or hardware? I haven't heard the original melodies so I don't know what the sounds should sound like. If you have them on V station I could load them into my V station to try to approximate them better on the SH32 for you. If you want to add automation for cutoff and res etc to the midi the comparison would probably be even easier.

Well, don't loose your time trying to recreate some patch, the midi isn't important at all ! Let me hear some of your presets you already have or what you can do with the SH-32 ! I've posted two mp3 with a lot of different sounds I want to be able to do. Please, can you at least tell me if you think it is possible or not with the machine ?

Someone is selling me his SH-32 for 190€ but he can't wait long, i'm not the only one who want to buy his SH-32, but I'm the first to ask so he gave me one more day to decide. I really want to hear how the synth could sounds.

Can you let me hear some of your trance stuff coming from the SH-32? I'm not gonna tell you what to reproduce, because I want you to tell me what it is capable of.. you know what I mean ? don't worry if you don't have melodies, just play notes , chords, I don't give a , just the SOUND is important thats all I want to hear. If it is possible play some different kind of sound (Pads, leads, basses, fxs)

Is it true ? can you include one patch with this osc?

thanks again !

I found here some audio demos :
http://synovy.free.fr/RESSOURCES/SH32/

I really hesitate because the oscillators are sample based and it isn't capable of FM ...

But the A-Station have only LP filters ...

Rico!

With more consideration, I don't think any of the SH-32 and A-Station will suit me..
If I buy one of those, I will regret it.
I'm thinking of getting the KS-Rack for 290€..
The An1x is for the same price, maybe a little less.. but only two oscs.. more metalic sound and a display I don't like much..

I can't find a complete list of specification for the nova 1. Someone has it ? What is the differences with the KS-Rack ?

I can't find the spec of Nord Rack 1 too. Is it the same as nord rack 2 with only 12 polyphony?

I have a Nova and had the KS. The Nova beats the KS in almost every regard except it has no FM and no hypersync. Other than that it is better specified and more compact. Filters, modulation, envelopes, vocoder and arps are more flexible. Where's a good spot to host my SH32 sample? It's probably mostly my lack of programming abilities but it definitely has a metallic sound in the demo I did for you.

Try here for a Nova comparison chart:

Thank you for the link I'm going to check it.

For your sample try www.yousendit.com
Upload the file and send it to an email adress and they will also give you a link to download the file. Just post the link here then.

arg Nova also has no FM ?
This feature is really amazing in V-Station.. I think I will miss it..
What really is the hypersync on the KSRack?

Hypersync is a quick way to sync all of your LFOs, delay, arp and other parameters to the bpm. It is convenient for sure.

Here's the SH32 sample:
