1) Mastering (brickwall) levellers are not compressors;

2) I did not advise you to use it as a gain amplifier, I advised you to use it as a mastering leveller on the master track. For gain control, as I said, give yourself sufficient headroom by starting with your channels well below 0 dB.

You *can* also use L2 as a gain amplifier, but you have to be careful, if the input isn't flat then you might get compression or clipping (depends on your settings).

L2? definitely not, because L2 adds latency. a compressor with threshold at 0 dB is the way to go, but i still do not understand how can one equalise a sound that its level goes down by 10 dB - when i eq my kicks and leads, i get the level lower by less than about 4 dB in most occasions. if you have to eq that hard, you better change the sound.

Isn't there an effect bundled with FL Studio that allows you to raise the gain? I think it might be called Fruity Balance or something rather, which I know would set the panning...but I think there's an additional control on it for gain. Or at least some effect has that additional control as I've used it before.

That said, I agree with everything DigiNut has said however.

Waves L2 has zero latency. Perhaps you're thinking of the multiband compressor.

Regardless, who cares about latency on the master track?
