L2? definitely not, because L2 adds latency. a compressor with threshold at 0 dB is the way to go, but i still do not understand how can one equalise a sound that its level goes down by 10 dB - when i eq my kicks and leads, i get the level lower by less than about 4 dB in most occasions. if you have to eq that hard, you better change the sound.
