There are two important things to consider here.... a) can the bumper cover be repaired, b) is the bumper itself damaged.
If the bumper cover can be repaired then you're looking at 3-600 depending on the depth of the scratches and the amount of refinishing required. If the bumper cover cannot be repaired then you're looking at $1,000 - $2,000 for a used bumper cover to be installed and refinished.
If the bumper itself is damaged then you can count on an additionall $1,000 to replace it.
If you have an insurance broker give them a call and ask how much an at fault accident would effect your rates. If that amount is less then the quotes provided by the other party plus the cost of renting them a vehicle during the repair period (they are entitled to this by law) then tell them to go to their own insurance company.
I am an insurance adjuster, if you need any further advise or have questions PM me, I'll be happy to help. |
Moral....you are fogetting one thing....the increase in premium will last 5 years....I guarantee it will be more then the cost of repairs. The problem is....if you turn around and offer to settle the damages with the other party then you could run into a coverage issue with your insurance company because you have admitted fault...that would only concern your own damages, which I assume are none by the details of the accident.
