this is one of those tunes that is very hard to rmx and make good just because the original is so massive sounding and just wont work unless it contains those huge hardware synth sounds m.i.k.e is so popular for. i think this rmx works in some places but not others. i recon your main thing that holds you back is a lack of powerful synth sound from a nord/roland/access. try applying loads of distorsion to your leads. sometimes this can give a big sound if done right...

-------

I'll have to check out the original track since I haven't heard it, my friend told me its quite impressive and there must be some massive margin between the original and my remix, which there obviously would be since I never heard the original before.
I also said that I changed the synth notation slightly, maybe that's why you're picking up something that is out of key.

hmm.. perhaps you should use even fewer words then...

But anyway, I'm sure AniG is forever in debted to you for your insightfull... nay... pro level comments into production and the how to's and why nots of remixing well known tracks. Heres a tip... dont a have a clue?... then dont post. Pretty simple really

Nice track mate. Personally I prefer it to MIKES style. He's got amazing skills, but his tracks are pretty inacessible at times. The original is pretty classic, but you got a great sound with your productions and this is no exception.

Some things I noticed...

- The hats seem too loud and a bit distorted. Might want to reconsider the samples your using of clean it up a bit.

- I think the offkey part people are referring to is at 4.36.

- really like the breakdown at 7.45. The percs and fx are awesome. Love that filtered snare sound.

Otherwise, I cant really fault it. This is really good stuff. Sounds like the original but has its own character too. Well done on this one.

History & Information: Remixed with the midi provided by trance-midi.tk, (ive changed it slightly), Remixed to show a friend of mine my abilities of making a song.

This a classic tune. Im a huge fan of this type of oldskool productions so i was keen to check this one out.

....brings back memories.

I love the new spin on it. The new elements make it interesting & bring a new life to le song.

Alot of the critics have covered most of the faults
egs:
-some pads out of tune to the rhythm
-a little repetitive (you could reduce the length)
-break at 3:20 could do with a softer/more subtle pad
-lead synths a little too generic.

& all the good bits:
-very up lifting
-heaps of work has gone into it.
-sweet spot @ 1:20 to 2:00. & progresses nicely from there.

I love when the bass comes back in at 4:40 & 9:50

I really enjoyed this. thanks for sharing mate.

Thanks for you comments Axolotyl, I really appreciate it.
Now that you pointed out the hihat's being loud and distorted, i went to listen to the song again, and I picked it up instantly lol.
yeh, @ 4:36 is the part of the original synth notation that i changed, it just didnt sound like it had that certain factor i wanted to hear for the track when i was coming up with ideas on how to remix it.

That breakdown too ages to make :P
