I just went there this summer, it's not huge but when I went to ginza (place where all the young tourists go to get drunk and party) I saw many flyers for clubs that did have trance.

P.S. Let me know if you use the following word to describe Japan once you finish the trip, "bizarre." It seemed to be the only word I could come up with to describe it.
