Insurance companies will *not* let you off with 2 moving violations per year, it's 2 moving violations on your record period. And convictions stay on your record for I think 3 years?

That's where the problem lies... if it was just about the points and the fine then everybody would just plead guilty with an explanation, but it's worth it to try and fight if you can because you'll still get raked over the coals with insurance if you have multiple convictions on record.

go for 2 2. pre-trial which basically means that they'll try to make a deal with you before a trial, they'll offer you 14 over the limit 60$ and no points guarranteed, I got 4 tickets, and never lost got a point

I've never got a speeding ticket, but as my police buddy tells me, as long as you fight it, it will always be reduced by some amount.

I got off my 187kms. PM me for my cell phone number, its too long to type and it is the best way I have found yet. Trust me, I ride a sport bike and I'm very experienced in dealing with Canada’s Revenue Driving Tax Division.

The trick is to mess up the timing of the court date that the officer was given for the set of tickets he/she wrote during that month.

Once I ran a redlight (left turn) 2 cops pulled me, and then the guy said something about paying over the ticket and getting the points reduced /or subtracted all-together.

When it was court date, I had to meet up with the crown previous, and we agreed to reduce the ticket price and all points to be taken off. wicked deal.

Are you sure they can erase the ticket AND the points? I think their guarantee is that they reduce the points (at the least) and if they don't reduce any points, they at least reduce the fine (secondary to the points), and pay for the fine out of your fee. That's how X-copper does it. Most of the time, since these guys are ex-cops, they go in and get a plea bargain, sometimes from people they know in the police force.

I don't think anyone can ever guarantee to erase the points AND the fine. In fact, I don't think they can ever guarantee to erase either, maybe just reduce it. They can't really guarantee anything if they don't know the outcome and there's always a chance of them not erasing either one.

Sometimes, when you go into court early to check in, they'll offer you a plea bargain. For instance, I once got a ticket for reckless driving, which was 6 points. I was doing 130 in a 60 zone, and I had a head on collision with oncoming traffic. When I got to court, they offered me a plea bargain of reducing it to failure to share roadway, which was only 2 pionts, so I took it. I plead innocent to the reckless driving and plead guilty to failure to share roadway...Simple as that. I've been offered plea bargains for my last two speeding tickets, so I think it happens frequently, but not all the time.

You can also get your doctor to write you a note saying that you can't come in due to some severe illness, and then have your friend bring the note in on your behalf, and request a continuance on the grounds that you can't make it into court....Then, when they reschedule the courtdate, there's less of a chance of the cop showing up.

A lot of people think that it is only points that cause your insurance to go up, THEY ARE WRONG, the insurance companies see a speeding ticket as a ticket even if there are no points involved. Cops usually try and use the line of reducing it to no points to get you to stop discussing the ticket with them and to make themselves look like they are "helping" you.
Unless they will reduce the ticket from a major violation to a minor they are not really helping you in relation to insurance, they are only reducing the set fine amount.

It's not true. If your trial date gets rescheduled, they will almost always schedule it to be on the officer's next court appearance. You think these people don't coordinate? HA!

DON'T EVER BANK ON THE COP BEING ABSENT, because you WILL get burned. If you don't want to get a lawyer/agent, then you had better get full disclosure and prepare your case!

The *only* way you can get around this is if you have want to be really sneaky and have a kick-ass friend who's willing to do this with you: go with your friend, wait in the car, and have your friend bring you in if the cop is absent or file for a continuance if the cop is there. And just keep repeating this until the cop doesn't show up. I should point out that this is essentially fraud and I would never dream of trying this myself! Not to mention, if you're not prepared, and the cop shows up a half hour late (after the court is in session but before you've entered your plea), you're fucked!

Remember, the cop who pulled you over has every incentive to show up to court. He gets paid overtime for sitting around and doing basically nothing for a couple of hours in an air-conditioned (or heated, in the winter) courtroom!
