I feel like we have been over this topic before.

From what my older friends tell me it seems like trance used to be alot bigger before I was old enough to know about it, there were a bunch of places that don't exist anymore that attracted some relatively big trancers to the area, but the man who made it all possible died, alot of people say he was murdered. After that the parties evedently became much rarer, there was also a big drug following in the trance music, evidently alot of people got in too deep and had bad things happen to them, along with the dead promoter and the rampant drug usage there was also the age of the "oriental massage" and all the azn pimps carrying their pieces to parties and stuff.

All this stuff left a bad feeling about trance music to most of the older crowd in the region, trance declined and drum and bass took over. they still react strangely when they meet a new person who enjoys trance, you can tell they used to rave like little maniacs to the stuff but now the backlash is so huge they will deny their past to no end. There is a large distrust of trance music because of the drug usage involved, at least over here. Whenever somebody talks about why they dont like trance they always mention that they dont want to be around 15 year olds who are doing extasy.

Trance left the wrong impression on alot of people in America I think, and it doesnt seem like there has been any effort made to change its image.

Actually, people who bash the established names tend to be the ones who know all about trance's history.

Anyone using the word 'Dozes' just proves Wasteland's opinion right doesnt it???

I've been to a few Tiesto nights over there.. was amazed... in Holland, UK, Ibiza, heck all over Europe at that time (TIC2) you go to a show and the whole crowd is showing their appreciation of EDM in their movement.
Walk into a club in USA for a trance night and see row on row of people standing there?

What are you guys up to??? absorbing sound????

Thats my only beef with american trance fans - save for DOZES and DOZES of attitude when comparing George Acosta to a REAL trance DJ.
