My problem is how to create the sample, not how to throw the notes

I Think you may be under the common misconception that you can place a single 16th/8th bass note on C1 or C2 and loop that note while tweaking the sound in order to finish your bass patch. Bad idea -- you need a midi region playing as you create the sound. It doesn't matter as much with bass sounds as it does for a lead, but you should still try your best to avoid it.

@all noobs(not really directed @thread starter):

Learn some music theory, once confident in melodies move onto programming synths.

Sadly, most will overlook this advice and continue to randomly throw notes around and try to copy other music. Then they'll regret not taking a few days to learn how to write music and design sounds.

It's pitiful. Stop looking for simple solutions, you have to do some work if you want get better.

Trust me. Studying music and taking free lessons online has helped me tremendously.

Why would you want to use it anyways? It sucks... Totally.

It's a lot of saws, from what I can tell. But seriously sine's sounds better.

And don't use something that's already overused. If you feel "the need for steal", then steal something that's creative, and unique. This will teach you how to be creative and unique.

Lemonparty.org is so gay ;D

I've just started to experiment with bass in Reason and here's how far I got in one day. First I made a kick drum line and added some percussion to make it sound really chippy and chappy. I then experimented with the bass by cycling through every damn bass sound from Malstrom and Subtractor to gain experience (yes, this is how you gain experience, hear every preset along with the drum line you created from your own mind) and never worry about getting caught up in a preset, this is part of the fun.

After you heard every preset find one that gives you a solid feeling inside, play your drumline. As it is playing, experiment with creative bass-note arrangements (play creatively, use intelligent patterns etc), discover how the frequency works and sounds in the mix, alter the parameters by shifting and morphing till it sounds...weird logical, fuckin addictive ear tricky etc...

oh yeh, also take advantage of the mixing levels and panning of every damn sound in your arrangement, the key is to play multi-dimensionally in every way possible, this is where bass logic comes from, not other albums...good luck!
