What do you put into your live sets that has made you a dancefloor favorite for the past decade?
"I’m a dance floor favorite? Great! I would say the passion that I feel for the music I buy and the honesty with how I play it. I play the records I love not the ones that simply work. I’ve never taken the easy music option (which would make me a lot more money by the way) but chosen to push people a little. I try to draw people in a new direction slightly and expand their taste a little more than other DJ’s." - Lee Burridge

What is the sound of perfection? John Digweed.
From the opening track up until the time I left,
Diggers was relentless, taking no prisoners. Driving
basslines, layered sounds, stabbing synths, vauge
distorted voices and long build-ups every other song
was the story. I saw John my first time at Twilo
exactly 5yrs ago, and have seen him consistantly
through the years. To say this set takes the cake
is an understatement, more so, He restored order
on West 27th last night.
Just a few...
Holden - The Wheel
Donna Summer - I feel love
Der Dritte Baum - Hale bopp
Cafe del Mar?

mental night...
it had been over 8 years since i aimlessly walked up to 530 W 27th to hear these guys Sasha and Digweed at Twilo for the first time...from a rise to greatness from virtual anonimity in NYC to the cities decline to a shithole for money grubbing promoters and djs...John Digweed, Made, and Spirit brought all the right elements together on Friday night and what was exhibited was total class and music was played that heads like to hear...layered and textured sounds...rumbling basslines...twisted short wicked vocals...and a set built the way its supposed to be built sloooooooooooooowly...and mixing tracks the way tracks should be mixed...he was in a fucking zone...i looked the man in the eye at least a dozen times and he was in another world...
Jondi and Spesh: We Are Connected was dope for a closer (pre-encore)...WE ARE CONNECTED...WE ARE CONNECTED...WE ARE CONNECTED...
a lot of special things happened the other night...kids who never got to witness him at Twilo finally did...the faces and names might be different...the music might be different, along with the dj booth, substances, and soundsystem...but its all the same when digweed takes control in that building...i hope this was a new beginning...
old skoolers got to come home...for real...it was fun to be back...i took so many mental snap shots of the evening...photography cant even come close to getting the images i implant in my head when im conducting piano riff in the air to a thousand people at 7am while my favorite dj in my favorite club is spinning one of my favorite tracks...or heiling a disco ball...or trying to ram my head through a speaker to get closer to the music...
unparalelled professionalism and performance...and props to Sean Cusick too for a sweet warm up set...the energy in the air was fucking electric...buzzing...if you missed it...oh well...once in a lifetime...
