You mean to tell me that... the old PSP's couldn't go online!? ... damn I didn't know that.
Well yeah, to answer DarkAngel, I just have to be anywhere with wifi wireless internet access. So for example, my apartment has a wireless network that I can connect off of. I can also go online with my PSP at school, Starbucks, Yoshinoya, libraries and internet cafes. I can even leech off of peoples Laptop signals if they're wireless. And yeah, I can pretty much go to any site. The first time I tried it (at school) I went to msn.com and checked out news on that hurricaine that's closing in on Texas. The pics were sooo freaking crisp. But yeah, I've gone there, to gaming websites, tranceaddict, google, etc all on my psp ant it's fucking awsome!
In the end though, as far as the original question is concerned, whether or not it's really worth it, IMO is simply based on your income. If it's gonna be stress for you to buy a psp then you're probably not ready for one. Myself for example, I just got mine 2 days ago but I didn't have to think twice about putting up the funds for it, so for me of course it was worth it. I got an awsome entertainment machine for myself who's library i can update without being stressed out about it. It's particularly great because I have rather long subway trips in between school, work, and home. I make good use of it, which is another factor one should look at when purchasing something like this.
As far as the age factor, at least as far as us guys are concerned, we'll never grow out of our toys, whether it's PSP's, digital cameras, sports cars that talk, plasma tvs and home entertainment system, et cetera... it's all toys in the end. Within a year I'll be in grad school. A psp is no big deal to have in college. Moreover I see far too many working adults in their 30's, and 40's on the train every day with PSP's.
In anycase, this thing does pretty much everything. If you've got a decent amount of money, then it's definately worth getting.

Actually, The old PSP can go online, The thing is, You would need to upgrade it's firmware to get all the newer features, And the one way of doing that would be to download the firmware into the memory stick and installing it on your old PSP, I dont know how it's done since I don't own a PSP.
