No it can't, there is no such thing. A lot of what Ferry Corsten plays though could be construed as "shit trance" though. Nothing he plays now, or used to play in the past, could never be considered anything remotely electro.

Straight to the point.
I don't like this new direction that Ferry has taken.

Yeah...it's usually half and half: half from the artists that invented them. The other half from the specific scenes or cities that cultivate the brand of music...it bubbles up from the underground in much the same way slang does. No one ever credits a magazine for inventing slang.
As for artist-created genres, off the top of my head:
It's canon that Juan Atkins coined techno. It's canon that Prodigy coined Hardcore Rave. It's canon that Dr. Dre coined G-funk. It's canon that Daft Punk coined French House. It's canon that Aphrodite and Mickey Finn coined Jump-up. It's canon that Mark Reeder coined Trance. It's canon that Leftfield coined Progressive House. It's canon that Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan coined House and Garage, respectively.

See his first CD on the Creamfields compilation think ul find its full of electro "sounding" tracks. They are more or less the kind of tunes hes been playing live on his LEF tour. I never said wot he was playing WAS actually electro. All im saying is that Ferry himself has tried 2 make the buzz saying "electro trance" part of his style now.
chill out ffs

i heard a song last saturday night that immediately made me think "electro trance"... so regardless of whether it's a "real" genre or not, you may like it if you're looking for trance with a bit of electro sound...
