Absolutely cannot wait!!!

I'm sure the price will be rediculous to begin with, but hopefully it'll drop a bit

Why would you say that? First off you get a really really nice analog mixer for using your standard DJ gear. Second you get controls for ableton that have the same quality and feel as what you've got for your mixer/TT's/CDJ's. If it were priced around $500 more than a Xone 92, it's money well spent.

Sure ableton can be used with a mouse and keyboard, but I just don't think it would be any fun and would limit your creativity quite a bit. I like having knobs and sliders and such that I can actually grab. This is the exact reason why I abandoned SW only DJ'ing early on and moved to TT's and CDJ's.

Sorry, but I dont find anyone using Ableton to be DJing. Once you figure out how to use that program, its pretty much copy, cut and paste into the program. Its virtually impossible to train wreck with that program.

Its a shame to see such a talent like Sasha and other DJs to be so reliant on this program. Maybe one day Ill use the program to layer vocals and stuff over tracks, but to completely abandon the actual art of DJing will never happen.

I don't think Sasha "relies" on Ableton, I'm pretty sure the guy can beatmatch Ableton allows you to bring production elements into your set. Something like the Xone 3D lets you COMPLIMENT your existing DJ skills with it, allowing you to do all sorts of things that otherwise would not be possible. It doesn't necessarily mean you have to abandon mixing the old traditional way.

Most people who go to a club have NO IDEA what the hell the DJ is doing in any case. As long as the music is great, who really cares how they are doing it?

i'd take the xone:92 rotary over this any day. i just wouldn't need all that midi crap!

Normally when i go to see big djs i go to see them for their music, not their beatmatching skills. I mean a good dj is one that has awesome music, can read the crowd, gives a good peformance etc. Beatmatching is the easy part of djing, after enough practice anyone can do it.

I dont really see using software like ableton subtracting from the quality of a peformance, perhaps if there was some sucky dj that was only half decent because the software could mix for him i would understand, but for good djs it allows more freedom in your sets. In the time you would spend lineing up beats you can now get creative, synths, acapallas, richie hawtin does some awesome stuff with graphics

The NUO4 actually has a total of 89 MIDI commands, for $750 USD. Sound quality will be on par with this XONE:3D.

They are still different beasts tho...since the 3D has more sliders and seems to have a few more controls, plus an included soundcard etc...looks like its more geared to Ableton, whereas the NUO4 is more geared for stuff like TRAKTOR, FS or MIXVIBES.

But where the NUO4 shines is its reprogramability, so you can reprogram any of the knobs for your liking

damn, i was originally thinking about getting the nuo4, but i'll have to wait and see what the price is going to be like when this is released
