I agree 100%, John. I just hate the way the media sensationalizes everything. A simple footnote on a memorial service (which should take place every year...the affected families will mourn for generations) would suffice; no need to have CNN jamming more of its "9/11: WHEN AMERICA WAS ATTACKED" garbage... Waste of air time and ultimately money if you ask me.

you wanna mourn something? mourn the 1000s of people dying every day due to starvation, inadequate medical care or lack of other basic human necessities.

Be sad for it all ppl, none of those events are good situation and all are very much less-than-ideal (an understatement to say the very least).
It's not a competition between events.
There is reason to regret and be concerned on a large(r) scale about them all. To each his or her own and just dont let the media dictate which one has more significance to you. (That the media will try to influence things and put a spin on anything is a given in today's world... take that as it is and just accept it.)
Just mourn them yourselves and let others worry about which they'll mourn.

You mean the people living in 3rd-world kleptocracies whose dictators have misappropriated all their financial aid?
If there's one thing we SHOULD be tired about hearing, that's it. For the past 80 years at least (that's about WW1 now) we've been getting blindsided with pleas about the homeless and starving. It's not that I don't mourn those people either - they after all really do not have much of a say in what their "leaders" are doing, they're innocent victims, and their deaths are every bit as tragic as the other ones we've been talking about.
But again, the reason it's not getting the same attention as 9/11 is because it's not linked to a problem that potentially threatens us or our way of life - it's linked to a problem that our interference has actually made worse. If the kings and queens and mock-governments had to live in near-poverty like the other people in those countries, they would have had a much stronger driving force to actually develop those countries. That was, after all, how European society developed in the renaissance era (and consequently how North American society came to exist).

Myself personally i still care about what happend sep 11th. What ya really need to do is put yourself in the position of the people who lost love ones they really cant forget about it because the ones that were close and who they loved has died. same with katrina and sunami victums everyone will remember.

well you had to expect them to do it...it's what they do after all. It's a sad day really I don't think it's appropriate to laugh at something like this at all...although the pizza comment was not so bad
