I was in there til j00f finished, then a little bit more. So chances are you would've left anyway. j00f played itl 4:30, which was pretty awesome. Didn't see that coming.
I'm really surprised at the amount of asians in there to be honest. Seemed like asian central. The only non asian people were like the TA's and maybe a few pockets of no more than 5 people here and there. It was almost like I was back at home in Sydney. However, it seemed like most of the asians were having fun, as compared to Sydney. Generally back at home, we get a massive asian presence at the big name clubs who're just there to get munted, with no music appreciation, so it was good to see this crowd was (or at least seemed) into it.
Another amusing part of the night. Was probably about halfway through j00f's set, and I was on the right, right next to the bar. There were these two white chicks that were getting hit on left right and centre. Was so funny to watch them look at all the guys and just go "ugh". They barred every single one, and in the end moved off. Josh and I took their dancing space
The first set (Dennis Hahn right?) was damn awesome. Perfect sounds to warm up an evening, and it was definitely getting me worked up. However, I wasn't really getting into the tribal techy stuff that was being played before j00f too much, so that kinda put me out a bit. Although towards the end of the set it got more towards what I was expecting for a j00f warmup.
And then of course j00f. Took him a little bit to progress into it, but once he did it was nutso. I recognised a few tracks that he dropped out of his recent CD's, and of course Hey Boy Hey Girl. I think it was the Killer Buds vs Energetic Rmx (although I'm not 100%. I've heard there's another psy mix of that track), and then the psy mix of Insomnia. Didn't see that one coming. Absolutely awesome seeing him again, and this time actually knowing (and being more into) the style he plays. Last time I saw in was a year or so ago, and I was expecting the style when he first started playing. Not that I didn't enjoy the psy, but I just didn't know what it was back then.
Small qualms with the night:
Bass was up way way way too much all night long. I have nothing against having pounding bass to get people dancing, but when it drowns out the mid and treble, it means you have to concentrate so much harder to actually hear the melodies and enjoy the tracks.
Lighting was pretty awesome, but at times got way too hectic. Even straight it was starting to bug me out.
Massive massive night nonetheless. Had about 20 times more fun at j00f than I did at LoL. Bring him back already
