ahh you people crack me up

people vote for pvd and tiesto because they simply don't know better. those are commercial djs with mass appeal so ofcourse they'll get lots of votes for that fact alone

Well, let me explain my vote for PvD for #1. First, I think he's the only DJ that can upset Tiesto who's mixing ability is so questionable, it puts everyone's votes into perspective. Armin might be the other. The second reason is because I like him. I've seen him 4 times this year, with his best set of the bunch being 4-15-05 at Crobar NYC. I saw him at Space for WMC, and he was good, but it might have been too early in the year for me to enjoy it enough. I think if I could relive that set, I would like it better because I would know more tracks, which to me means something. His NYE set was marred by a stabbing and him shutting down early even though it was very commercial

Stll well done as far as a commercial set goes.

My other votes were for Ferry, who has some of the most intense energy I've seen live, Eddie Halliwell, Steve Porter, and James Zabiela. I've probably seen 50 different DJs this year, including the aforementioned, plus Digweed 3x, Sasha 8x, Desyn, Blank & Jones, Armin 3x, Junkie XL 3x, Danny Howells 2x, Holden, Dave Seaman, Mauro Picotto, Chris Liebing, Evil Nine, Josh Wink 2x. Anyhow, I'm running out of desire to relist everything. You get my drift.

pvd makes stupid remakes of almost all tracks he plays with his own beats and percussions, that really pisses me off because he doesnt improve them, he rapes them
i heard politics of dancing 2, what a mess! Many frequencies are canceled out because of these overlapping beats and original harmonics are lost
i wont mention the mixing and song selection (did he even think it over?) on that cd, but its a mess too

i dont understand: you are pro, you are number 2 of the world, you have no talent (apparently these 3 things go together nowadays)

about tiesto: he is allright; not a master at mixing, not a master at song selection, fairly good producer, but he gets the crowd going... Surely not #1 though.

Armin: Always was a huge fan, loved asot, but since episode 190 or something he started to please all his 'friends' and only (well some exceptions) played tracks made by them, instead of playing the best trance of the moment. He refers to that as 'supporting artists'. Another thing i dont like: I get really angry when he plays nirvana - smells like teen spirit bk remix in live sets (he does that alot), it rediculises dance music and himself.

This year i decided to not vote, thought about voting on Markus, but i dont like male vocal tracks and he plays them alot.

Damn i sound like a cry baby, rereading this. And no, i dont listen only to the big djs, i listen lots of djs' sets

That was the best part about your post. You did a Googooly-esque statement and made it into a verb.

And Armin's been doing that to ASOT since ehhh... well... he started doing it around 100. Especially since he left ID&T and went to DI which was around episode 184, not 190. I still find most of the episodes entertaining however commercial they are.

In fact, I would like someone to give me a damn good reason why Tiesto is sooo over rated. The guy's sets and latest productions can't even compete with other tracks 'n mixes. I truely hate it when people say that Tiesto is better than Armin or that PvD is better than I dunno who. Come on!!! You're actually saying that Tiesto's recent albums are better than other DJs' albums?? Are you nuts?? What the hell are you smoking?!?!? Please don't give me all this crap about different tastes and shit like that. Tiesto isnt about taste or anything anymore. I was just at his gig here in Dubai last night, it was packed really. I actually gave myself the impression that MAYBE MAAAYYBBEEE Tiesto's gonna pull off a good set. Unfortunately he didnt. It was worse than PvD's set here in Dubai too.
Same goes for PvD. I truely don't like his productions. My fave PvD production by far is his remix of Members of Mayday - 10 in 1. That's it! I haven't really heard The Other Side yet but I'm not expecting much. And I can't find anything special in his mixes too really. Oh and what's with PvD saying that "the new trance sound doesn't appeal to him" ?!?!?
To me, PvD and Tiesto are nothing and I would like to find posts with good reasons why people still vote for them and why are they still topping the DJ charts.

P.S: It just kills me everytime I listen to Tiesto's so called track Adagio For Strings when it's actually William Orbit's. I truely hate that track. Ferry's remix all the way. Mind the word "remix"
Thanks

I bet you're well articulate and coherent in the real world as well aren't cha... Ay? Ay??

Vote for me

3. there's already a million threads like this, why another one? use the search and use the current threads ffs.

4. AND yes, people must be voting for these DJ's for a reason! If you can't see why then that must come down to opinion.

couldn't say it better!
+1 !!!

i like paul van dyk.

last time i saw him in chicago, he fuckin rocked the place.

i've yet to see tiesto, but his livesets just don't inspire me like other dj's out there right now.

personally, i think the most overrated dj's are tiesto and armin. i saw armin just last year.. it was seriously boring throughout.
