people vote for pvd and tiesto because they simply don't know better. those are commercial djs with mass appeal so ofcourse they'll get lots of votes for that fact alone |
Well, let me explain my vote for PvD for #1. First, I think he's the only DJ that can upset Tiesto who's mixing ability is so questionable, it puts everyone's votes into perspective. Armin might be the other. The second reason is because I like him. I've seen him 4 times this year, with his best set of the bunch being 4-15-05 at Crobar NYC. I saw him at Space for WMC, and he was good, but it might have been too early in the year for me to enjoy it enough. I think if I could relive that set, I would like it better because I would know more tracks, which to me means something. His NYE set was marred by a stabbing and him shutting down early even though it was very commercial
Stll well done as far as a commercial set goes.
My other votes were for Ferry, who has some of the most intense energy I've seen live, Eddie Halliwell, Steve Porter, and James Zabiela. I've probably seen 50 different DJs this year, including the aforementioned, plus Digweed 3x, Sasha 8x, Desyn, Blank & Jones, Armin 3x, Junkie XL 3x, Danny Howells 2x, Holden, Dave Seaman, Mauro Picotto, Chris Liebing, Evil Nine, Josh Wink 2x. Anyhow, I'm running out of desire to relist everything. You get my drift.

pvd makes stupid remakes of almost all tracks he plays with his own beats and percussions, that really pisses me off because he doesnt improve them, he rapes them
i heard politics of dancing 2, what a mess! Many frequencies are canceled out because of these overlapping beats and original harmonics are lost
i wont mention the mixing and song selection (did he even think it over?) on that cd, but its a mess too
i dont understand: you are pro, you are number 2 of the world, you have no talent (apparently these 3 things go together nowadays)
about tiesto: he is allright; not a master at mixing, not a master at song selection, fairly good producer, but he gets the crowd going... Surely not #1 though.
Armin: Always was a huge fan, loved asot, but since episode 190 or something he started to please all his 'friends' and only (well some exceptions) played tracks made by them, instead of playing the best trance of the moment. He refers to that as 'supporting artists'. Another thing i dont like: I get really angry when he plays nirvana - smells like teen spirit bk remix in live sets (he does that alot), it rediculises dance music and himself.
This year i decided to not vote, thought about voting on Markus, but i dont like male vocal tracks and he plays them alot.
Damn i sound like a cry baby, rereading this. And no, i dont listen only to the big djs, i listen lots of djs' sets
