If you count doing a backspin 'scratching ablity' then yes. lol, but as for anything more than that, no. So I would not buy the cmx for scratching or anything like that.

I cant remember if the cmx 3000 has a touch sensitive platter like the 800/1000 or if its like the 200s.

i looked at swapping the cmx for a pair of 800's. Basically going for 800's would mean losing wave display, hot cues, pitch bend buttons and some pitch ranges. I would gain a better scratch function (which I wouldn't use anyway) and a longer fader, though at the same resolution. I concluded that for anyone not scratching, 800 just isn't as good as a cmx. maybe you like the size and looks of an 800, but it could onloy come down to preference.
added to the features, I like having a dual deck so everyhting is within easy reach, not having cd's on the outside of tt's.

Somebody new want to dj

I wonder sometimes is there anybody in the electronic music scene
you doesnt care about djing...
It seems to me that after you go to your first party
the next thing you know you find a copy of traktor
and start looking at catalogs for a mixer...
its something everybody goes through.

If you are a begginer I hope you dont loose your enthousiasm

If however you are converting from vinyl Save up for the good stuff
as you will find mixing on cds SHIT.

I owned the cmx and its not bad at all , but for the same money
I would recomend getting two cdj 200
or the new denon cd decks because of the 0,02 resolution.

The price these will set you back is 600+ so...
if you are on a budget look for something that has
- 0,05 pitch resolution (avoid 0,1 these days...)
- has a comfortable solid jog and
-starts instantly.
The better the pitch resoltion the better your transitions (aka miixing) are going to be.
You really dont need effects & gadgets BS...

Hope this helps
