Dude, can't you just cancel your account? That should solve the problem of continuing bills.

I tried to cancel it but seeing I'm abroad or what not the company basically doesn't care. I believe the bill would have to be paid in full and it would have to be switched over to another user etc...
I tried to take care of things when I was over there but that's the only thing that didn't work out in my favor ( gas water and cable were all taken care of ).
I've actually received numerous bills over the past months and each time there's been a disconnection notice letter included with a date several weeks away.

you can close the account. you don't need to pay off the bill to close the account. you will however be responsible for the unpaid balance that is owed for the full time that the account was in your name regardless of where you reside. you should have closed the account when you quit the premises. you can close the account by phone or in writing. you can not put the account in someone elses name. they have to call and open a new account in their own name. and if someone else said this, sorry, i didn't feel like reading all the posts.

agree with the post above, i'm sure the fact it's in your name means it's your problem. It doesnt matter if you've been living there or not, for all the comapny knows you could have agreed to pay for this guys bills and now you've fallen out your tryign to get the money back. had a similar thing happen to a friend.

dumdat, of course he didn't get the letters or bills. They were mailed to you because the account is in your name and since you had your mail forwarded to your new residence the letters and bills were all forwarded to you.
Gimme your address. I'll mail you some common sense, k?
Or better yet, gimme your credit card. I'll go shopping. Don't worry, I'll switch it to my name sooner or later.

NO NO NO you didn't follow me.
I mailed him the bills several times after I received them.
Off course I realize he wouldn't get them if the mail was forwarded!
