It was late 97 to early 98. I have albums for summer 97 and it's not on there but it is on the 98 album so it must have been released between then. While we're on the subject, i've been to cafe del mar, nice place, a bit freaky tho.

Hmm. Seems like I'm outnumbered in the age&popularity-detracts-from-quality discussion, so in the future I'll let comments like on that pass

btw. Caf'e del Mar: Three'n One Remix (1997), Nalin & Kane Remix (1998) - Original (early 90's - can't remember exact year). All of them appeared as singles, and the 1997 version even went top 10 in Norway as far as I remember.

i have to disagree.. trance is similar to wine: it just gets better with time

well, that is part of it, but what about when a dj plays a classic and people say "hey, remember when we first heard this tune at gatecrasher (or whereever..)"

i think if djs played sets full of new songs, the people wouldnt know what thier dancing to, but if a dj plays all old songs, thier wouldn't be any surprises. a dj should strike a balance between the old and the new songs.. and play the best of both worlds

at the end of the day both cheese and excellent tunes get played a lot.

cheese (castles in the sky) gets annoying and you wish the producer was dead

excellent tunes (urban train) just never lose their appeal

ok, this is how i see it. there's old, and then there's classic. old is when a song gets so overplayed that nobody wants to listen to it (sandstorm), while classic is when a song is dated, but *usually* not overplayed (cafe del mar). some classics can fall into the old category, but but that is because the production is so great or unique that after being old it is still listened to by some individuals who can never get tired of certain tracks (Armin - Communication).
that's my opinion, now let the flaming begin! lol
