Definitely make the switch!

So I ended up buying a 14" IBook back in December and do not regret my decision one bit. I was definitely a "power" PC user and am even married to a techie (consultant ..not helpdesk type) who is pro-PC but after using it for a couple of weeks even he was convinced it was the right choice for me.

Pros:
-Beautiful OS! It's still fast after having loaded tons of programs on it.
-Software is easier to download than PC (i.e. pirated software). In my first week I got like 20 gigs of free software worth $1000s
-Multimedia software is unmatched!! I made a semi-pro DVD of my son!
-No Viruses
-Mac community is very helpful..post on certain forums and you have mac ppl give you real answers not BS ones that will end up screwing up ur PC.
-Ilife software alone trumps programs on Windows anyday.
-Many unique things that can only be done on Mac OS X. (i.e. unless you have Adobe Acrobat pro you can't print any file as a pdf...you can with Mac)
-Safari is a pretty cool browser..point on any word on hit a button and a dictionary with the definition pops up.
-WIDGETS!!!!! GOTTA LUV WIDGETS!!!

Cons:
-If you are a hardcore MS office user there is a lot of functionality that does not work very well, i.e. in excel you cannot make pivot table reports w/o first making a pivot table and even then the functionality is very limited. Same with Microsoft Word...limited!
-Learning curve for OS X is at least a couple of days..probably a week...it drove me up the wall when I first got it.
-some websites (very few..mostly financial/investment related) will not let you access their websites/software. Oh...can only play online poker at pokerroom.com ..nowhere else as it's all downloadable.

PM me if you want any other Q's answered!

The Keyboard is actually nice and light which I love. Also, 2 finger scrolling is a nice to have as I barely have to lift my finger off the trackpad.

Resolution is the only thing that sucks as you cannot go higher than 1024x768 even on a 14" so that's why most ppl say get a pb instead (12" if u can't afford the bigger ones).

Personally the ibook gets enough looks from ppl so it's got the "adorable" factor too!

If you don't need portability and want a mac go for the Imac 20" or the Mac Mini. Remember software is SOOOO easy to get on a mac it's not even funny.

12" Powerbook with 1.25GB RAM. OSX is a fucking RAM hog like you wouldn't believe.

Laptops are made to be portable, not 15"+ behemoths.

Sony Vaio X505...
