Hasn't been as bad lately because I was studying for the LSAT, so I was leaving work early, but going home to study or going to class. Plus our trial got postponed, so instead of living out of a hotel in Delaware I get to stick around NYC and catch Mode Hookers, Cox, Holden, Ferry, either Lawler or Sander K and Nic F., etc.

Maybe Christina will let you crash at her place because she doesn't really live there anyhow. We'd want hooked up with one of those new apartments, though. Her roommates suck, though, and don't allow her friends to stay over if she's not there, so you're probably out of luck.

I live in park slope brooklyn, and IMO its one of the nicest places in NY... I couldnt handle moving into the city and the constant noise. And travel from here is almost certainly faster than traveling from the Upperwest side or east side for that matter as i have access to all the trains... Some neighborhoods you may wanna check out.. Cobble hill, Brooklyn heights, Parkslope.. Not to mention the food arround here is some of the best the city has to offer...

another option.... you could, if you wanted to, get a place in greenwich or stamford CT and take the train to nyc. a lot of people in CT do that. rent might be slightly cheaper on the edge of CT compared to NYC but not too much... I've really considered doing that myself since all the better jobs for graphic design are in NYC it seems but, I don't know.

i don't think i'm ready to move in with any girl at the moment. thats way too invading, let alone the freedom of living in a bachelor's pad or the thought of getting bitched at for leaving the toliet seat up hahah

if you are seriously considering moving into the area let me know and how soon you'd want to do it, like many things, there is a screening process by which the owner goes through i'm sure you know about that but putting the word in does bump you to the front of the list. I'm sure they can iron out all the credentials and credit reports on their own (you don't need me for that do you haha) let me know, i got a building across the st from me and one down on 72nd st by the express train line for the 1239.

i would say if it's something definite, to give yourself some time to shop around which might mean a trip out to nyc for a weekend to visit these places. like most buildings some are designed better than others, some have better "CLOSET" space than others. Others better bathrooms than others, views, etc. You'll need to see what fits you and what doesn't.

i don't question anything in brooklyn. I'm a HUGE FAN of williamsburg, HUGE! but that doesn't mean I'll move there. Might be a decent investment opportunity compared to the 3+mil buildings are going for in UWS/UES. As for the commute? It takes me 11minutes to get from my apartment to my job, I think that's pretty good. Also helps that I'm 2 express stops from work. Live on UWS work on 34th St Penn Plaza so that's another consideration ctprincess should consider.

As for eats in BK...I give the eats a double thumbs up. The food is cheap and there are PLENTY of areas to eat in. BK is more a suburbanized city life since it's outside of the city aka east new york.

cost of that commute is pretty heavy even with working advantage (work pays for your commuter pass). Also the time to commute is tripled when traveling from the lengths outside of living in the city. My parents live in Queens and I use to commute from their house, on average I'd pay about $140 a month in LIRR pass (100 which is paid for by work) and $40 paid by myself. Another viable option but it doesn't let me hang out after work or get to work earlier as the convenience of living in the city proves beneficial.

Hell, I wouldn't live with those girls and surely wouldn't subject that to anyone that I didn't hate. They're in their late 20s and should be living on their own, because they're way too set in their own ways and controlling about everything. She had to fight with them about me having keys to the apartment. I told her that the one girl was going to suck when they chose her, but Christina thought that them being older would help her become a bit more mature. Big mistake.

I'm in my lease until the end of May, so I'm not going to be looking soon, but thanks for the offer, I'll keep it in mind. Plus, $1800-2400 is out of my range right now.

if ure gonna make a decent amount of money (100k-150k) and ure single then u'll lead a comfortable life in nyc. otherwise, i wouldn't move. nyc is a very expensive city. forget about the rent, its all the commodities! oh and if ure gonna work in manhattan u should definitely live in manhattan, taking the train from any other borough sucks ass!!!!!!!!!!!! manhattan is a tough city but if you got the 'goods' it becomes as they say, the capital of the world!

anyway, good luck with everything! chi-town is awesome btw! so nice, so clean! snow actually stays white! lol

save all your money before hand its really expensive unless you make 6 figures

Don't leave the toilet seat up and you won't get bitched at. But in all seriousness, John and I are moving in together and I'm really excited, I think it's gonna go well... plus we practically lived together last year, my parents wasted money on an NYU dorm for me and I was there one night a week.

Yea, Park Slope is where we're gonna live and it is hands down my favorite neighborhood besides the upper west side. Quiet yet lots of cute bars (that I don't get let into, lol) and AMAZING restaurants one block from my boyfriend's apt. I am SO EXCITED to live there I LOVE where my brother lives though, 82nd and Columbus, he has a GIGANTIC apt. with his wife for upwards of 3000, not sure how much he pays.

yup - that's why i hate to leave - it's a nice city and very liveable - cost of living isn't out of control - i just bought a 2 bedroom loft downtown with exposed brick, timber ceilings - have a 15 minute walk to work and am able to own a car so that i can get around on weekends with no problem.

right now the idea of spending $2000+ on RENT and not getting a tax deduction is really killing me...
