cYrus - you misunderstand me. there are 2 types of unison that i know of. the first type is like that on the prophet and the old analogue polys. like the juno 106. it stacks all available voices onto 1 key for monophonic playback. therefore, you cant play pads with it because you can only ever play 1 note at a time. unless your pado nly consists of 1 note at a time...which is rare :/

the other type of unison is like that available on the virus. sort of like a dynamic unison - it allows you to stack voices onto a key incrementally. my virus b unison doesnt stack all 24 voices onto 1 key. instead it gives you the option to stack 2/3/4/5/6/7/8 voices onto 1 key.

therefore you can still actually play basic 3 note chords for pads on a virus (because 8 x 3 = 24), even with unison on x8 (provided you arent using the 3rd oscillator because it reduces the number of available voices). even then i think x8 unison on the virus is too much. ive gotten monster pads using only x3 and x4.

even then, the unison on the virus behaves differently to the unison on the prophet. very differently. its more subtle and closer to a really big chorus than it is a full blown analogue poly unison.

well, i know that.. but i don't see the point why NI doesn't allow polyphonic unison.. it would be so easy to implement..

pro-53 = prophet 5 emulation. they could easily do it as you suggested. but then unison mode wouldnt sound or behave anything like the real deal.

it would be like having a polyphonic unison on a juno 106. it wouldnt sound like a 106 :/

yes, all the time.. that's why i don't use pro53 anymore.. i've a lopt of great presets with unison and the effect is subtle and doesn't sound cheese or gabber like..

I quite like the unison mode on the Pro-53... I've actually made quite some tracks with that one as 'main lead'.

Given the fact that it's so easy to get a supersaw-ish sound out of it, isn't it worth applying some 'right' effects to make it sound a-ok?

Like I said I have a supersaw pad that I created with unison turned on because otherwise it sounds kinda dull...you need at least 8 voices or so for the sound to be "full." And I would like polyphony so I can create chords with the supersaw, but it seems that I'll have to create 2 or so more instances of the pro-53 or maybe z3ta or something in order to get some chords out of this thing. If anyone has any other VST's or something that has unison or polyphonic unison mode please tell me. I'm trying to create a really uplifting kind of trance track and I think that some chords and my version of a supersaw will really sound great. I'll upload in a few or something if you guys would like to hear it.

cyrus are you using z3ta now for your supersaw sounds? I'm not too great with z3ta so that's why I use pro-53.
