Forget who is gonna be #1 this year, what I am curious about is when will the likes of Sasha, Digweed, and other "house"hold names (pun intended) return to the top of the list. It wasn't all that long ago that Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold had a strangehold on the top 5 spots but yet it does seem like ages ago that house was at the top in most everyone's minds. I mean just looking at the production house is as big as ever and the quality is top notch while anyone can arguably say trance has definitely taken a dip in terms of quality. Why won't a lotta people realize this dammit.

I could admit that trance is not as his best time, that there is a lot of crap made in trance today. But you will find that x10000 in house music. At least in what i understand as house music. Cause Angello & Company are not definitely house for me (and even them are starting to sounding the same in every tune). Now, talking about Sasha, when he scored #1 at DjMag he was not playing house. Not, check his tracklist archive in TA. You will find even he played tunes as System F - Exhale, Joshua Ryan - Pistolwhip, Rui Da Silva - Touch Me and Tunes from Tilt, Paul Van Dyk, Jan Jhoston,etc.. He of course played what i think you mean "house" in those sets, but he performed a good mixture of styles (including trance) that made him unique. Now i think he has gone too underground although i still enjoy his sets, but lately has lost a lot. I am not going to talk about Oakenfold cause is obvious what he played when scored #1 (check TA tracklist archive for it), so you can start to make your own conclussions about styles. Never been a big fan of Digweed so i wont talk about him, but "house" as you mean is no very far in terms of "overproduced" as trance. So soon it will start to look poor and crap, as every style overproduced nowdays.

Tiesto, probably for the next 2 years at least.
Concerts and gigs at the Olympics puts him universes ahead of other DJs, and it is a popularity contest after all.
I sometimes think maybe if you were limited to one vote on DJMag, then Tiesto perhaps wouldn't win. But you get all these folk who vote for Ferry and Armin who just put Tiesto in their list because they don't know the names of any other DJs.
He probably gains a vast amount of points that way too.
