Eh, it's not surprising. When a good chunk of exposure these days comes from the internet, whoever has the more popular internet shows are going to rate higher. Let this be a lesson to all up and coming DJs. Get a radio show, stat, and whore the Hell out of it! The days of flyering, mixtaping, and vinyl digging are long gone.
And, of course, this is TA. The vast majority of voters aren't your typical trainspotting, crate digging, Discogs submitting, EDM emersing bangers. It's a website for fans of trance -specifically the newer breed, as it's the most common amongst the kidz registering en masse at TA. If I had seen anything else but trance (or prog derivitives) rate highly, that would have been a shock.
PS: If you really want to see a DJ list without Tiestin van Corstenfold at the top all the time, just go to any jungle, techno, house, breaks, hip hop or psy trance DJ poll. Chances are they won't be anywhere near it.
