I would say that it helps promote the track (which is good for a producer), but in reality it seems like those DJs you speak of usually cater to listeners who leech mp3s themselves (not so good for the producer).

I agree with this point a lot.
Certainly there seems to be a lot of advertising and tracklisting in excess of the amount of shows and bedroom DJs now getting themselves noticed via ETN network etc.
I can speak for one of the shows which i am directly involved, and know the DJ personally, his method to this madness is to play from vinyl and 'permission accepted' cd-r from our producing friends, and a few well-known artists.
That doesnt mean to say he is playing exclusive tunes illegally, but that if he knows something good is in the pipeline, he isn't afraid to ask label managers & artists for their shizzle.
When people bitched about the amount of self-advertisement in the tracklisting section a sticky-topic was formed in the MD section to link up your webshows.
What is wrong with having a new section completely? For artist radioshow promotions?
Its arguably already there, but at present this isn't what Artist Promotion is used for is it.
I do sympathise with Typhoon's point though - when you open up the tracklisting section it should be easy to surf through in 10-15 minutes to a setlist from a well-known DJ - at present it just seems we have 1-2 posts like this each day, and about 20 new ETN shows cluttering up the section.
How do u change this situation without at least discriminating against new upcoming DJs (who have chosen to use ETN as a way to progress their career)?
Im browsing through the endless sea of shit that floods the Tlist forum and I notice that all these "radio shows" are full of pukes who play illegal mp3's, and im saying 90% of these etn/party 107 do this.
The thing you should understand is, no one gives a fuck about what you play in the first place, so playing shit that is "exlusive" doesnt really make you a better DJ.
Also it has come to my attention that half of these "DJs" cant even beatmatch, and use shit like traktor or whatever to mix their shit shows.
I really dont see the point in this

hmm...
either i have no idea what i'm talking baout, or u don't know wat ur talking about.
I've talked to the manager of ETN about the same thing as u... and he says he doesn't allow Mp3 Djs to mix on ETN, I think it's vinyl only.
feel free to continue ur rant.

Paul never used Traktor. He used Final Scratch some time but that's not like bedroom djs using Traktor for their mixes.
Today he mixes with Ableton, where he obviously has no need to beat-match too now
I don't think that there are many MP3 DJs on etn or other stations.
And even if it's not allowed to make radio shows with Traktor or something, how wants ETN to control this???

er, i thought most white labels were white labels because they cannot get the proper rights to parts of it. SO say they used a beatles sample and couldn't clear it. They press it and distribute it, then record stores sell em usually profitting.
thats my understanding of them, im sure it doesn't apply to all cases, but it does apply to some if not most. This is the same exact thing except with mp3's no one gets a profit margin.

White label is something that didnt quite get a full release, for various reasons
