This crap doesn't even support any of their current CDJs. Horrible looking interface!

controller

Looks like the only controller they support is the DMP 555 by Pioneer...

People over on the Pio forums are thinking that the next gen CDJs will be able to hook up to this..? There was also some talk many months ago about something from Pioneer that will blow away FS and Serato.. ??

i'm not all for these softwares, but i'm not all against them either as they might bring something good (dunno yet though).

but it's NOT about the looks, but the functionality!!!

i dont see any eq controls either. just kill switches.

According to this picture it does have the necessary EQ pots. But it seems you'll have to push some kind of button first to let it pop-up. Not very convenient.

Don't know, but if I were to go the software way I'd invest my money and most importantly time into something like Ableton. $249 is just too much for something like this and I doubt it'll bring any innovative functionality. A bit cluttered too if you ask me. They should've just placed the basic controls there (EQ, volume etc.) and not too much distraction so you can just focus on what you are planning to do.

exactly

i'll wait and see how it performs before passing judgement

sure they could've made it look easier on the eyes, but it's simple, the computer won't take any processing power away from audio to render complex graphics

Oh jeez i thought Pioneer learned their lesson. I'm sure it's gonna have some really sucky things like DJ Booth b/c if i understand correctly, it's entirely based off of that.

It's another reason why i sold my dmp-555. The DMP-555 had the capability to store music on a SD card, The problem was this, First you can't rip directly from a cd to a sd card within the cd player, You MUST use the included Dj Booth software to transfer from pc. Second, when you have DJ booth software setup with your mp3 playlist, you can only "rent" each song from your pc to sd cards a total of 3 times, after that you need to "return" that song from the sd cards back to the dj booth software. Third, you MUST use DJ Booth to transfer music from your hard drive to the dmp-555 deck, you can't buy a seperate card reader and transfer music to the sd cards by regular copying means, otherwise the deck won't be able to read the files. Forth, even though the software really, really sucks, and it's virtually useless without having the deck connected via usb, Pioneer requires a product key and activation key for use of the software. What made it worse for me, the product key didn't work and i had to contact pioneer for another key. Their just as bad as microsoft for antipiracy means ifnot worse.

Personally after the dmp-555, friends dealings with the hdj-1000, and their customer service, i would never buy a pioneer dj product again. (actually i really wanted the djm-707 but they had to discontinue it grrr)

Rane on the other hand.....
