Dude, if you are paying over a grand for 1200's, you are getting ripped the FUCK off!

Not at all. We're talking Canadian $$. Even Mk2's are roughly $600 each. 1+1 = ??$$

Now.. if u want to get the Technics: SL-1210M5G .. that'll be around $800/table.

and with our taxes... u'll easily spend over $1000 on 1 of those tables alone.

Saying that new innovation, and new technology is the wave of the future... is something absolutely and totally different than saying that all dj's who use tables are poor. U are extremely wrong about that bud!

On another note. who cares if it was made in the 80"s. lol that's ridiculous that u would say that. Not all things new are the best anyways... we all know that. The "OLD" things are usually the most reliable. Plus it's standard at almost every club. Not every club will provide u with a laptop and hub for your digital hardware. At least not the clubs i've spun at. They might have a few cables in case... but they usually expect you to bring your own stuff. Where as, like I've already stated, almost every club has tables for u to use.

no we won't
cause it would be boring
the only thing they could do is beatmatch perfectly...
and robots can't think for themselves

newer doesn't always mean it's better... it also doesn't mean the older has to phase out...

That's exactly it: because it's the easiest music to mix, ergo the DJs haven't spent very much time practising their skills (they don't need to), so they do not have a love affair with their equipment. It's not much of an adjustment for them to move to digital.

For DJs who spent an entire lifetime honing their craft, who spent YEARS just learning certain tricks and techniques that are only applicable with vinyl and tech 12s, it's a bit trickier to give up the ghost (but why would they want to?).....because when you've invested that much time, that much energy, and that much precision into a particular apparatus, you tend to want to stick with it, for changing equipment is like telling yourself that you just wasted the entire first half of your life.

Trance DJs naturally do not have this problem. They haven't spent very much time with any musical equipment ever, and so are free to gravitate to whatever device will do the most work for them.

You registered in April 2005, so I'll clarify this for you. Many, many top-name DJs who spin on vinyl and/or CD decks have used software for their mix CDs. Digweed, as far as I know, does this often. Yet what do I still see him using in clubs?

I think Kleinenberg has been fooling with ableton, when I saw him here anyway like two months ago, he had two powerbooks, I mean I don't know for sure, but I can only assume he was using it for ableton.
