I get given a lot of mixes and rather than just leave it and forget about it, I usually give some comments.
As previous poster said, there are a lot of times when it may be good but just not what's being asked for.
I have reviewed a lot of mixes here from people and have always given tips and ideas.
It's always important to tell people what they do well as well as what they can improve on.
I don't very often see anyone rip into one of the top guys for his mixing ability, it's more often than not other factors that will annoy or inspire.
People actually expect a lot from a top name DJ but so you should as it is what they do and you are paying them to do. On the other hand, we are all human and as a result can have off days or make bad decisions from time to time.
If your mix is being reviewed by someone else, keep in mind their own level and knowledge and also their tastes. You don't get very many objective people and more often than not, most DJs will hear your mix as worse than theirs whatever you do, even if it's 10 times better in which case you will usually hear nothing at all.
cheers
