can i ask my own question, i got given a key C#m i know what it is but using the easy mix wheel what key is it? it cant come under Cm... im so lost.

this is just a guess, but isn't it c sharp minor a.k.a. d flat minor a.k.a. 12A?

yes thats right

for pitching i just remember that a differance of about +5.5% results in a -5 change in key (and vice versa), for example a 12b is 7b when you speed up the record 5.5% in comparison to the other record

This is much easier to explain when you're looking at a piano:

As you can see, C# (or Db) is the black note between C and D. A flat sign (b) means that you play the semitone below, and a sharp sign (#) means you play the one above. So, becuase C and D are right next to each other, C# and Db are the same note (or enharmonic equivalents). So, if you have a tune in the key of C# and one in Db, you effectively have 2 tunes in the same key - a perfect key match.

Hope that makes sense - here are the rest of the equivalents:
C# = Db
D# = Eb
F# = Gb
G# = Ab
A# = Bb
