and plus, being DJs and all, the ppl in this area generally have similiar lifestyles, that we can all relate to.

Isnt it true if you can mix very well you should have some knowledge how to put a song together?

i don't even use the levels, other than to change volume level of a track (in a literal sense)...

other than that, when i'm mixing, i only use Crossfader and EQ, and the CUE level, beforehand.

You'll learn soon enough that the channel faders are the way to go.

indeed, they give much more control of sound level than crossfader...

genarally, upfaders for mixing, crossfader for scratching

I like the idea of this thread, let's face it although we are DJs there's a lot to talk about besides...

I find it a pain to go other places as the people I actually like talking to are DJs, when you go to another forum it's mainly full of whackos and anal retentives who don't know how to act.

If someone doesn't like the thread then they can refrain from posting in it, that wey they don't get offended.

With regards to guys in the UK I have often wondered what most of them are like. I have actually only met one Trance Addict in my life and that's Spin Doctor who we don't see here any more. Hopefully I didn't put him off DJing for life .

It's always cool to share stuff with people i.e. knowledge and so on but sometimes it would be cool to see what makes people tick and there are a lot of interesting characters here. Would be interesting to know who is the average age of the DJs here and so on.

yeah i think a DJ COR is a good idea. its definitely different talking about something dj related to a dj or someone else.

for example, a few weeks ago this producer heard my radio show on WNUR 89.3 fm chicago. he called in and we had a quick chat, and a few days later, i get a few promo copies of a tune he is releasing soon on this west coast label.

sure, its not a huge deal, but its something that non-djs wouldnt really understand. whitelabel promos are great!

back on point, a DJ COR could be sweet. just dont want people to be anal like in some other forums.

This thread is money... Good idea... I posted this in the COR too, but figured it's actually probably more appropriate for a thread like this:

So I ended a set with a Ween track last night...

..."Monique the Freak." I ended my set with the Brad Carter Remix of Red Carper - Alright, and as soon as it was finished, I dropped "Monique..." as a kind of "Nights over, thanks for having me, this is your exit music" kind of track... And it turned out so damn well that I ended up playing my first ever, 3 track "Encore."



It was just a house party, but it's one I play fairly regularly, and generally there's a great crowd, dancin' their asses off, but last night was out of hand (I dropped Group Therapy - My Own Worst Enemy and during the break, the entire room started to pound out the percussion on whatever surface they could, the overwhelming noise of people just tapping out the bongo/conga part during the breakdown drowned out the vocals!)... I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this is why I love house music, because while to a certain extent I think with Trance you can entertain a certain crowd, but with house, I can take a room full of central Wisco college kids and MAKE them shake their asses for 4 hours straight, and still leaving them begging for more... I've played to rooms where people were getting down before, but last night was fuckin' electric...

It was an interesting experience to say the least... Ween rules...
