Yeah the road is littered with suv's and they get bashed to. With the fuel prices going up fuel economy is a concern. Sure when the planets align and you have perfect day an ls1 powered car can idle along on the highway and bang off 28ish mpg but that rarely happens. Sure the z06 could return you with 20 mpg, but driving in the city it sure as hell wont, and i doubt your old buick pulls in better mpg then an accord unless your friend has a super heavy foot while you grandma it everwhere. Not that an accord (v6) is a poster child for mpg.
people are bitching about mpg..so what. you said it was ugly. does that mean you are an automatic domestic hater? no. just cause we choose to bitch about fuel economy doesnt mean we are all domestic haters either.
It has to do with high fuel prices these days, most here are concerned with fuel economy whether you agree with it or not.
It will be fun to drive, thats for sure. the new motors are very good.
and chrysler products have been improved over the years a lot. My rents are chrysler people so ive had my fair share of expeirnce with them. the new stuff is nice. |
I work for a company that deals with research & development for "the big three" i have done testing on a lot of vehicles that aren't due to be on the market for 4-8 years. Chyrsler is one of them, and they have made huge improvements over the years.
Like anything else that comes out "New" it will catch your eye for a while, but after a while, you'll get bored of looking at it.
I've got a 96 Camaro Z28 - 5.7L 6spd. i've de-tuned the engine (programming mods) and im pulling 650-700+ kms on a 55 L tank. i drive it normally on premium gas. (although its mainly Highway Kms) i can drive in 6th gear @ 120kph while at 1,500rpm (almost idle) and still have the power there to pass without having to gear down. I only spend apprx $250 on gas a month.
I've got (now driving) a 88 GMC jimmy 4.3 Auto - absoute pig on gas!!! i have to fill this thing up every 3-4 days (approx $600 mth!!) but on the good side, this thing is amazing to drive in winter. TGF 4X4.
the big difference in getting gas mileage is the transmission - standards will always get better mileage.
And the advantage Muscle cars have over civic's & other rice rockets you have the power when you need it. i never have to rev my engine over 2000 rpm (for normal driving) everyone i know who has a civic or import has to rev the crap out of the engine to get it going and from stalling out.
Im not putting down compacts in any way. they're fun to drive, a lot better on gas. but i like my "big" cars.
