I'm not sad. Just admired his work. Probably 3rd in line next to pele and maradona of course.
Why on earth he retired at such at early age is beyond me.

The man is a legend, and the reason he is ill now is not because he drank after his transplant, its due to an infection caused by the transplant. |
Technically, the infection caused so much damage because he was on immunosuppressants, to stop his body from rejecting the new liver.
But that's not the point. The point is that a footballing legend who was sadly overcome by drink is no longer with us, and there is something to learn for all of us out of this.

i gathered some quotes of his from down the years. this guy was not only a footballing legend but an amateur (and quite good!) comedian!
"I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars - the rest I just squandered."
"They say I slept with seven Miss Worlds. I didn't - it was only four. I didn't turn up for the other three."
"I used to go missing a lot...Miss Canada, Miss United Kingdom, Miss World."
"In 1969, I gave up women and alcohol, it was the worst 20 minutes of my life."
"I was born with a great gift and sometimes with that comes a destructive streak. Just as I wanted to outdo everyone when I played, I had to outdo everyone when we were out on the town."
"Perhaps he saw something I didn't" - on the bellboy who, in an infamous episode, remarked "George, where did it all go wrong?" upon seeing the star with a magnum of champagne, thousands of pounds and the then Miss Universe in his hotel room.
"I'd have to be superhuman to do some of the things I'm supposed to have done, I've been at six different places at six different times."
"I was in for 10 hours and had 40 pints - beating my previous record by 20 minutes." - on a blood transfusion for his liver transplant.
"Against Benfica in the final I nearly did it, I beat the keeper but then chickened out. I might have given the boss a heart attack," - on nearly completing every schoolboy's dream as he considered getting on his hands and knees to head the ball over the line, in the 1968 European Cup final of all places.
"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right." - on England captain David Beckham.
"Pele called me the greatest footballer in the world. That is the ultimate salute to my life."
