A lot of these people are conceited self proclaimed know it alls who have to just be generally grumpy to anyone who asks a question that is "plainly obvious" to them
I just think it is a shame. This community would be a lot nicer if more people tried to help instead of trying to come up with witty garbage to post on here
I am not saying everyone is a rotten apple, I am just saying I am getting discouraged posting reasonable questions on here, so what's the point of being a member of this community?

people will help you when you have a genuine question. however, this forum (and the others on TA) should be no substitute for being lazy. coming here asking for "new prog house tunes to knock someone's head off" is lazy and foolish. 99.9% of queries can be resolved with a simple search - nowadays there are so many rubbish threads with obvious answers that actually finding useful information is like searching for a needle in a haystack

I find that if you ask the right questions, and have done a lil research beforehand (ie. used the search button), then for the mostpart you do get some helpful responses from the TA massive.

I do also thinkthat a bit of moderation and a stickied FAQ (common set of guidelines that all the mods enforced consistently) wouldn't be a bad thing. Maybe even an intro forum for TiTs like Ian to intro themselves.

PICS or STFU Noob

I hear you man people usually get razzed for certain threads they create, not knowing what DJ played what session or did what remix, people thinking their posts mentions Cheese artists, not true DJ's, and the usual Tiesto sucks, no he doesn't banter to name a few.

That makes sense, being as i'm not your friend and all. Although the prospect of being your unfriend doesn't sound too bad. Don't worry, I try not to make fun of someone unless they deserve it.

People have been unfirendly and flame happy on message boards for as long as they have existed. Kids feel invincible and post things they would never dare say to a person's face. It is almost like a sport seeing who can climb up the pecking order of flaming each other.

It is just part of being on the internet, try not to take it too seriously. There is so much fun drama sitting around in these archives, the general unfriendliness on TA is in no way a new thing.

Also, the flames really only come from a small fraction of people, they sure do look really rampant, but there are planty of friendly nice people around. Sure there might not be a friendly person who happens by your post and has an answer for you, but that does not mean that the entire board is full of assholes. There are also kids who hunt for threads just to flame people because it makes them feel like they are cool, losta people will get flames by people like this and think the entire board is mean when really it is just a few people who are big on flaming. I think the population of assholes is a relatively small fraction of everyone here but they make themselves alot more visible than the friendly people on this site.

Yah it's frustrating at times but at the same time I click on the threads that invite the drama and read them so I guess most of us can be blamed for supporting the attitude. Car wreck mentality i suppose.

You can take the TA out of the flammage but you can't take the flammage out of the TA

Seriously though, if we didn't have flames we'd have ninety billion threads about "what's the best trance track of 2005?"

Wait...

What about a mod/admin create a new section:
SPAM ?
I'm not kidding hehe... i think its a cool idea...

well, and a thing I want to say at the moment:

I'm mod/admin of trancebrasil, and we're a growing and the best trance community for us brazilians, but i just can notice something:
in the start all is cool, everybody is cool, lots of people trying help the forum grow...
after some months, some threads appear with spam about shows, others about PSYtrance parties, and users trying be smartasses and bashing others...
I think it will be the future of all communities in the internet, not only about music...

You have to bare in mind the majority of TAs dont get much sunlight or contact with other human beings. Therefore their only source of discussion/conflict is on here!
